And to clarify my question....

Lets say your affiliate offer is widgets. Is your URL widgetsusa.com, or easywidgets.com, or allwidgets.com?

For the best SEO advantage, you'll want to have your main keyword in your domain name. Though if your aim is brand name, then short and sweet is best.

First find your main keyword you want to target, then go from there.

Will random letters in front of a url matter much? For example, abcwidget.com? The shorter, the simpler the better, no doubt.

Start with your main keyword first, then add something random to the end.

For example widgettrove.com or whatever.
