Selling on Craigslist?

I'm selling a coach purse on Craigslist and I have a buyer from South Carolina willing to buy my purse. She said she loved my bag and always wanted to get a coach purse at a good price. I asked her if she has paypal and she said no and can pay via bank transfer. So I agreed of course. Then she wanted me to sign a business agreement contract, and in the business agreement is says that if purse is not what she expects to be, then she will make me liable for reimbursement? We don't live in the same state and she only has my full first and last name. What is she going to try to do, sue me if she doesn't like the purse? I never had a buyer to ask me to sign a contract.

This forum is not for Craigslist. It is a stealth forum. Read the large print on the Craigslist website. Long distance buyers are usually running scams.

Its a scam. do not do it. I get them all the time. I keep all the checks people send me when trying to scam me on my peg board just for laughs. Got a 1600 check a month ago for a 400 item that they were wanting the different via money transfer on . lol what a joke.

Hell no, this is bad.

Everyone is in agreement~don't do it. I completely understand wanting to sell it on Craigslist though. I wouldn't dare list a Coach purse on Ebay the way things are with VERO. Just keep reposting until someone local will buy it from you!:bounce:

If she trust you that much why not have her WU u the money?

If you do do it. Insure the item for retail value. Sign it someplace, have it authenticated by someone and have proof.

thanks for the help, i appreciate it game freak.

Have you asked them if they will wire you the money? The Craigslist site specifically states not to send money via wire transfer. If you can get her to do this, that would be good for you. Hopefully you have sold your purse, to someone more local, by now!

i have sold stuff via Craigslist across country from a paypal payment. A $300 Rosetta stone package. worked out fine. but they didnt give me some bullsh*t story like the scammers do. still dont know how they found my post from my city when they live 1800 miles away. =)

Most people are great. It only takes a few scammers to mess it all up for everyone. Glad it worked out for you. I have sold a few items within the state. The person actually traveled to me and gave me the cash...it was a big sale. It can be done via PP, but you must have proof of shipment. It works the same way Ebay/PP works. The buyer can say it was never received and they will get the $ back. :pop2:

BMW - they probably found it on "Craigszoom" - this url allows people to search ALL Craigs across the country in case they're looking for something specific (and maybe they hate ebay too! who knows?)
