eB sellers forming a union would be a nightmate and QUITE destroy the stealth process.

You're assuming it would be run like all the other unions you've seen.

You're giving the OP of this thread a chance at coming up with something unique, so maybe you should give the thought of a union for EB sellers a chance at doing something unique.

Tell you what...if a union was structured correctly, it sure would be a lot easier to use a union to get EB to listen, then rolling a whole new auction selling site. A union wouldn't be half the nightmare compared to what the OP is proposing.

However, you do bring up a good point, regarding stealth. Afterall, a union would require people to withhold selling at certain points, and that would require accountability (some would try and sell anyway), and that indeed thwarts the stealth process.

When is this site going to be available to the public? I am very very interested and can not wait to see it. I the ideas that I have heard sound fantastic!

I can't put an ETA on it, but I can say we're working on it 18 hours a day, every day, no joke :)

on your site we all get immunity IHM !!

if ebay was easier on sellers, then everyone would sell on it, at least now the hassle puts some people off, and leaves us more pickings....

I've spent several hours this week researching ebay alternatives and here's the big thing that stands out to me: The sites themselves are hard to look at. Either they look cheap (plunderhere) or they look like they're trying to display everything for sale just on the homepage (ubid...even ebid). If you can copy Ebay's style without actually copying their design, I think it would do wonders. They've mastered a professional look that is detailed, and yet somehow minimalist. These days "minimalism" is huge in web design.

That's what we're working on now, the design. The software part is done but it looks awful (barebone) without a nice design. We won't copy eBay, but we'll make it different while still easy to use. Something along the lines of eBay meets Etsy meets something entirely new :)

markstall96 06-27-2012 11:18 AM

What is the estimated date that it will launch?

imjustme 07-03-2012 01:15 PM

I can't give an exact date as otherwise I'd be under time pressure and we want to make sure it's something good, not something rushed. Definitely less than 6 months, could be much less. It's getting closer every day :)
