When I had XP I always like to put 2gb min but I always played games on that but a netbook doesnt have the power to play games so yea I think 1gb is good enough for the basics.

Agreed. 1gb of ram is plenty for a netbook, but 2 gb would be nice. :) The specs I gave above are for a powerful laptop.
