How to you think about buy.com?

Hello, I am thinking to sell my items in buy.com marketplace. Does anyone have any experiences selling there? How do you think that site? Thanks for any input :)

They ask for an SSN up front in the application, as well as links to your other selling platforms (this was before the IRS regulations, too). I applied and they never got back to me. Bunch of ass-oles.

Seems to be frowned upon by many sellers.

What about traffic?

Gamefreak 02-11-2012 12:18 AM

Traffic is AWESOME ive heard from a friend that got approved as buy.com sells RETAIL prices unlike amazon.

But they suck a$$ in terms of approving sellers. They only want "legit" businesses to apply. I applied and got denied keep in my I showed them my superb amazon account and ebay account.

Let me update my news here, I applied to sell in buy.com on last Saturday and 1 day later which was Sunday they emailed me back saying my application has been approved, now I need to give them something like my W9 tax form, my store policies, and I can starting selling. I can't believe I have been approved by them because according to you guys said they usually denied the applications. Thanks.

That's good to know the buy.com actually have decent amount of traffic. I did the same things, I showed my eBay and amazon when I applied.

Just re-applied to buy.com lets see how it goes this time.. UGH

Christopher 02-28-2012 04:35 PM

what happened?

jeffweico 02-28-2012 06:03 PM

My guess is is WHAT is being sold. I have a friend on Buy.com, and he felt he was approved because he had an LLC that was more than 3 years old and also a retail store.

Gamefreak 02-29-2012 04:18 AM

I got approved.. My company went legit in december of last year but killer amazon sales/stats probably pushed me over the edge..

Site is JUNK to sell on in my opinion. It needs ALOT of work. They block 85% of the listings that other ppl make and they have 2-10 listings for the same items but you arent allowed to sell that item although it 100% matches what you want to sell.

Search results needs a lot of work as well.. Everything is so out of place it seems.. Or maybe I just need to get used to it..
