Website templates

Is it best to purchase website templates or just use like Godaddy has and pay them for the set up ( 4.99 per month for website tonight )?

I have used front page and did some of my own years back but dont want to go through all that just for a simple website for myself.

Ideas please?

If templates, suggestions where to buy them or who to buy them from?

What are you trying to do? Open an ecommerce site?

ebay-sucks 06-18-2008 10:09 PM

One e-commerce and one for our family stuff.

for e-commerce i wouldn't go with a template alot of them look boring, honestly you should ask yourself, would i buy from this website?
a professional looking website = more sales.

Right, you need a premade shopping cart. One I like a lot is CS-Cart.com, but there are tons of shopping carts out there, some better then others.

As for a simple family site, sure go for the template. Or even start up a blog. (wordpress.org)

Suggestion on who to buy the templates from?

Thanks to you both.

The only templates I've bought are for another forums of mine, or blogs I have. I've had custom work down from Elance.com which usually turns out nice. Just do a Google search for website templates, free website templates if you want to go that route.

you can also get free templates also
google it
but honestly they are not very good

if you need help with anything, like aspkin said, i also use elance, great website

There are tons of very nice free templates out there. I suggest you search for free css templates. You want css because it allows you to change the look of all your pages with just one edit to the css file.

Also you should have a logo and several sized banners done for you site. Then incorporate the the logo into your index page and interior pages.

Generally you want two templates, one for the home (index) page and one for all your interior pages.

Man, go to graphicboards.com, they have all of those nice and expensive templates for free... Specially for Joomla, Zencart, Cubecart, Wordpress and Monster Templates. Good luck!
