For big-big project I used Magento.
OpenCart for large project.
WordPress + WooCommerce for small project.

OpenSource is better

Personally I have always preferred open cart. Doesn't take long to get used to the many great features it offers.

You can pick up any of the free open source carts which are very developed & add extensions which will add to your overall costs.

The real tricky bit is getting it built & customized as to your requirements & having the time & ability to be able to do this.

Or pay a professional developer to have this built & customised for you to your specifications.
