Anyone here try Etsy yet?

With the type of items I buy I think I could kick some butt on Etsy.

People are way overpriced.

Looking for months now, just have not pulled the trigger yet.

The sellers on Etsy are mostly Females, and they are RUTHLESS, reporting competitors as soon as they list an item claiming ALL sorts of stuff, true and untrue, VERY Cuthroat, beware

Heck I get that on ebay.

Might give it a shot and take away some of their fancy high priced business.

Just looked and I have a piece of glass that someone has listed as a 3 pc set for 85.00. I sell the same set for 40.00 to 45.00.

Think you will fit in fine Sandy_D then if this is what slapped knows :thumb:

Dont think I would fit in fine with cutthoat, reporting competition etc.

I rely on my product prices and customer service. I dont have to worry about reporting someone for something silly.

My items, prices etc will take care of those types on it own and I wont have to be one of those fit in cut throats.

it can be a great market because it's geared towards 'hipsters'. it's very overpriced because everything is 'handmade'. i want to get involved myself i just have to get on the ball

Most items are not handmade.

Selling Pyrex bowls made in the 1960s or 1960's toys are not handmade.

There rules state item must be from 1993 or before.

Most of the listings lately have been 1950-60's deco etc items that are not handmade.

Market is split between hand made and older wares.

Because of changing policies, many sellers with handmade items are slowly gravitating to other sites.

Etsy is not without foibles.

Shops/users can be deleted without as much as a farewell email.

Accounting system can be 'flaky'. Majority of transactions are paypal based.

But, if you 'have' a marketable item, it can be heaps of fun. It can be a platform where return buyers do just that. It does allow plenty of working out suitable arrangements to sell.
Sellers can be very buyer-friendly in regards to postage costs too. I find etsy more relaxed than ebay LOL

That is what I saw, they and sellers noticed handmade items wont make it. Not enough buyers.

My huge customer base are after the "other" items that are not hand made and it right up my alley.

Hopefully get some time to test it some.

I have totes full of those types of 50-60s items ready to sell.

I only watch for one reason...and that's to look at the girls :dance:

Completely different issue though. Gets a bit too much when a pcp takes digs at other senior users one here who happen to be female.

I exclude those directed at myself.
