Default Etsy & Paypal

My wife wants to sell on etsy, and can actually bring in some pretty good money, and I was wondering if I can create a new gmail and attach it to my paypal so I can provide it to etsy. Sorry if that sounds confusing. Basically I do not want to provide etsy my email that is used specifically for ebay selling. I want my wife to have her own designated email that she can use, but would be attached my business paypal for receiving payments. I do not see why this would be an issue, since this would be similar to having two ebay account linked to the paypal, Any thoughts?

Yes, you can most certainly use multiple emails on one paypal account (one will need to be primary), but why not create a seperate one so an issue with the account wont sink both businesses?

Is this a Stealth or Legit account?

I believe PP allows for up to 8 email addresses.

If this is stealth, I would keep the account separate and setup a new stealth for Etsy.

The more money pouring into any PP account allows for more limitations.

Not worth risking.

Definitely separate. That's a troubled road ahead otherwise...

Agree with a different paypal account.

ETSY delete accounts. Not as bad as amazon.

But accounts just 'vanish'. Rare to get a response from them as to the reasons.

I with 100% stealth with Etsy for various reasons.

Thinking once they grow they will be better suited and have better controls over accounts.

Many are losing accounts daily for some reason and they lack any type of decent CS at this point.

They appear to have glitches at the moment especially in their accounting department.

On 3 different occasions since Sandy mentioned her interests in Etsy a week or so back, I have got emails for 3 transactions where I billed buyers. Did special listings for each buyer.

Only problem was all of them were for 12 months ago ( same day ). Issue was resolved with by email quickly enough.

Got a 'How did we do Customer Service survey'.

Hope they understand 'you stank with your account glitch'.

Yes it similar to having 2 eB to 1 pp. Up to you to make that decision. Understand the link principles - if pp finds what you are doing risky, you may get shutdown.

My personal experience: I have done something like this for a separate website. Some dumb folx actually sent payments to my customer service e-mail so that was kind of annoying but did not have big issues with pp.

So far so good. Keeping my fingers cross because I can see a huge potential for myself as I buy a ton of mid modern stuff they seem to like on this site and not much competition YET.

Huh?

You are allowed one personal and one premier/business account with paypal.

What does 0% risk have to do with anything?

PayPal can and will shut down an account for ANY reason.

It's their company, their TOS.

Should a collective of sellers get together & gang up against your wife, her account is toast.
That is the risk with them.

It seems at some point every etsy account is shut down without any notice. Etsy does a review and makes you verify your items are in fact homemade.

Here is a list of everything they ask for
1. All shop info
2. The names of everyone involved in any aspect of your shop from ideas to creation to shipping, etc
3. Location of shop, identities of photographers, shipping locations, etc
4. Photos of everyone involved in the shop
5.Detailed description of how all items are made
6. Length of time to make each item
7. Every material used – and photos of raw materials of all everything involved with making the item
8. Where materials are purchased plus proof of purchase of materials: photos or scans of receipts
9. Photos of all tools and equipment
10. Photos of all work spaces
11. Photos/graphics of all patterns used for items
12. Photos of a step-by-step process of how everything was made

I had a stealth etsy shop open for 1 week and I paid my first bill to them and within minutes my account was suspended. It's been over 5 days now and not one email explaining why.

Etsy has HUGE potential if you qualify to sell there, but is a different animal than ebay all together.

Has anyone one the forum had any experience with a long running stealth etsy account?

Etsy lacks traffic but if you have a niche, it can be profitable with right clients.

They are no longer for just selling hand made items.

I sell tons of vintage items in a particular group and they sell as fast as I can buy and list in that area.

The traffic they have will buy if the items is in good condition and priced right.

Many overprice their items on etsy and leaves me wide open for sales.

I have my original account for a long time and no issues.

Also have many stealth etsys working just in case.

how is that even possible? a $15/hr customer service rep can get all that info and start their own line. thats like telling someone your entire business plan. that is very weird...

I do very well on etsy and have been there sin Oct '12. I do not use any stealth pp accounts there..I just use direct checkout that they provide.

The one thing I will tell you is if you do some fast sales they will ask for ssn/ein fast. I was asked within the 2nd month with about 40 sales and $1500 total.

direct check out that they provide isnt that bad after 3 months selling there you can get a bank deposit every day and takes 1 day to hit your bank.

I am doing better on etsy then ebay atm.

Ya, my wife has been successful on there as well. Averaging about 2k-4k a week. She has several accounts for different categories of items, most of which are direct checkout and has hit the 40-50k mark and zero mention of hassle of tax info. The accounts were originally made with stealth info as we wanted to test the waters before giving any real personal info out. I am not one to not pay taxes, but until any real information is requested we may bypass this.
