what are realistic expectations of profit for a blog? Is it worth the time?

I have been trying to think of ideas to get a small extra income coming in.

I do sell on ebay but am pretty green and don't have a reliable product/niche yet. I rely on doing research online for deals and selling on ebay for profit.

Right now I do tweet about deals and have a close to 2500 followers, and growing. So my idea was to create some sort of blog/site where I could collect from affiliate links. I could use my twitter and facebook as promotion. I know I won't be able to compete with the likes of slickdeals dot net or fatwallet dot com, but I wouldn't mind a small piece if possible.

Before I start this venture I would love some advice on how successful some can be and if they are worth all the time put in. I know it's a very vague questions, but I had to start somewhere. :yar:

Good place to start here :) I run a medical blog on the site - not much effort into it so not having much results but its a work in progress :thumb:

I know aspkin wrote that auto blog book. I really have not read too much into it yet but I'd imagine its a great place to start

I used to do a poop blog (in college days), I kid you not, I would blog about my meals of the day, what place I ate at and took pictures of the end result. I would comment or tell jokes about the end results.

I had a few hundred followers and started to get some ads on it when the blog got banned, I dont know why...:noidea: hahahah
I made a few hundred bucks from it which went to school books. I had some fund doing it. But I would not do it today.

I know a couple people who blog and bring in several k's a months just for fun, and I can tell you like most things.....you need to set yourself apart, be different, unique, and a pioneer for a new following. Good luck.

please see adsense thread.......

the only thing you are doing right is the aff links..... but you are still faced with an uphill battle.

I don't like things in which the income is unknown and can't be calculated. KNOW YOUR NUMBERS!

That is probably where I need to look. Where can I find it?

Thanks all. I will was thinking it would be half blogs and I would just post deals on the web as well. Followers can vote and post comments on each deal as well.

Autoblogbook.com . If they still have that trial pay option you can even get it for free. Never really had time to go into details in the guide but I haven't been led astray to this point

I found a coupon code form namecheap to get my domain name for $0.98. First step complete, now ton of research. At least I have 2 close friends with extensive knowledge of website design, etc. Still need to do all the affiliate research though.

Just do it and you will see if its worth it or not. Everyday we live another day less of our lifespan so can't waist anymore of it. Just do it my friend.

Does anyone have any experience with the autoblogbook? Just curious what it is all about.
