is Aweber really better than hosting yourself with Parabots or PHPList ?

I'm creating a newsletter for one of my sites and I was planning on doing it through Aweber since they're the popular one, but I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with Parabots or PHPList?

One thing I like about Parabots is that subscribers don't need to click a link confirming their subscription once they inputed their info on your site, whereas with Aweber they have to.

Anyone have any experience with any of this?

Aweber is great and so is GetResonse (which I use), it's not a choice of whether your software has better features or not, it's whether or not your email gets through. Using Aweber and Getresponse your emails will get through 99% of the time, using your own software 75% of your emails Will Not get through.

Like I said I use GetResponse, and there is a feature within it to disable double opt in, do a Google search and you'll find it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response aspkin, it helped a lot.

Do you know if GetResponse has a feature to automatically add email addresses of people who have placed orders through CS-cart, or any other shopping cart?

I looked on their site and couldn't find anything for that, but that is something that is important to me because I want to send a different newsletter to everyone who has placed an order, and they need to be automatically added to the list.

You can but when you do this, you can't disable opt in, they must click on your welcome email to start receive your emails. If you want a mail client to accept your email list without verification, constant contact is a good one, but more expensive. I used CC as well, and it was well worth it to me.
