SEO Service Help!
 

Hi I am currently hiring an SEO professional help my website get to the top page of Google. Currently its still on the 2nd page for one of my main keywords, and I have hired him for around 4 months. Is this normal?

Also, I was wondering, when it gets to the top position , there should be less work needed for the webpage, am I correct? If so , would I still need to continue hiring him , or do the SEO pros usually charge less when the site is already on the top position?

I used to do this full time, can tell just by what you're saying you're a sitting duck to get ripped off lol. Can't answer your question without knowing the word.
If you pm me the word/s and how much you're paying I'll have a look. How old is your site and domain aswell?

And yes will pay less to just maintain

How competitive of a keyword is it and how many searches per month and what is he charging you?

I'm not very big into organic search traffic (with the popular keywords, page one is nearly impossible and even if you DO get there, a hundred people a day are trying to knock you down and take your spot) but I would think that once you are ON the front page of Google, it would take a lot of work to STAY there.

there are tons of guys who claim themselves professionals these days ,to be frank hard to find real guys who gives real result .

Hi guys, thank you so much for all your reply and I apologize for not replying earlier. Through the course of 7 months , I have paid $1500 USD for the SEO service, for 4 keywords. Right now the keyword with highest ranking is on the 2nd page of google, while the others are lower, (5th page) . Is the pricing, speed and ranking normal?

The keyword with the highest ranking which I think is also the most relevant keyword, has a avg. monthly search of 1300 on google, and 'high' competition on the google keyword planner.

Domain age is 2 yrs.

Any help is much appreciated.

still impossible to say but either way its clearly not worth it for you. You might of given them too many/too hard keys,1500$ for 7 months isn't much for 4 keywords. Might be worth you dumping the others and just getting them to rank the one on the 2nd page if its a decent money word

I KNOW there are some good SEO people out there. But I once had a nice, short domain name set up for my store - a 5 character dot com name. I paid a company $2,000 to do some SEO. They looked very professional and I saw some nice reviews of the company that looked very authentic.

Everything looked good for a few weeks, my site was rising in the Google rankings and some of my items were even making it to page one. I WAS ECSTATIC! Then, one day, it all stopped. My site had been banned by Google. Apparently they were breaking the rules and using link farms and a bunch of other stuff that Google didn't like.

I was extremely pissed off! I had spent HUNDREDS OF HOURS on the website and had it looking REALLY GOOD, with a lot of original descriptions for my items that I had written myself. I had a few hundred items listed. I was on the Volusion platform and made sure that all of my pics were optimized to take advantage of the rollover magnification feature. I was absolutely FLOORED when this happened.

I called them and demanded a refund. They refused, telling me that it must have been something that *I* did to cause the site to get banned. I spoke with my lawyer, but the company was located in California. I would have to get an attorney in California to sue them. I would most likely have had to go there at some point to testify in court. And even then, my results were not guaranteed.

So my website, hundreds of hours of work and two thousand dollars got flushed right down the toilet. Not to mention the $100 a month I was paying Volusion, the $40 or so monthly fee for my merchant account, 500 boxes that I had printed with my domain name, etc.

Unless a company comes PERSONALLY RECOMMENDED to me, I will NEVER make that mistake again! I have hired a couple of companies to do certain aspects of SEO, but I am VERY CLEAR about what I want done, what I am authorizing them to do and I make sure they agree to do NOTHING ELSE without my permission.

It is just too easy to end up going with some company that has hired an inexperienced person to handle my account and then I get screwed. Most of them MEAN WELL, but if SEO is executed incorrectly, it can do more harm than good.

Jeff brings up some extremely valuable points, have to be very careful who you pick. Not only do the immediate results matter but more importantly how their getting these results & the long term implications.

Basically, SEO is long term work. If your keyword traffic Avg monthly search is high, then it take time to come on search engine.
