adwords work?

So I've given up on ebay. Too frustrating, too much time, too many fees. So I'm looking at adwords for my site. Does it really work and what percent do you think make actual sales? I don't want to go bankrupt, at least on ebay I got something out of it!

aspkin 08-10-2007 09:25 PM

Adwords does work, but you have to be frugal with your spending. You have to bid only targeted keywords to maximize your profit. And your website has to be professional enough to do the selling. I've been doing very well with adwords for many years now. It's a goldmine if you learn how to use it correctly.

There are probably better guides that are more in depth then what I can get into. It's basically what I said above. Find what keywords are converting, make your site as professional and trusting as possible, and be frugal with your bidding.

Chris Hanson 08-12-2007 01:54 PM

I dont get the bidding process????

aspkin 08-12-2007 05:02 PM

Well, I know you use adwords, you said you spent on average 10k a month with it. I would hope you know how it works. :)

You simply bid for keywords you want. The more money you spend the higher your keyword is located in Google.

Just trying to learn your secrets

Ah well, it's not much to it. My best results come when my ads link to high quality landing pages that are targeted for the keywords. And not aiming for the top spot if there is a lot of competition. Also only bidding on keywords that I know will convert. I use keywords like Buy this widget, cheap widget, widget for sale... etc. That's what I do. I can turn $100 into 3k in sales easy.

It does feel akward with all these Ebay ads in here...

When u said you can turn 100 into 3k easy, doe sthat mean 100 a day for CPC? Im trying to decide how much to spend on my ads.

aspkin 12-06-2007 08:16 PM

Emm, it's probably more like $100 converting into around $1500 in SALES. But yes Google PPC if done RIGHT, pays off.

The way that it works is a very HIGH converting landing page. One in five visitors sometimes buy an item. Your landing page does most of the work.

New landing pages take more to convert. Like I started a new one a couple weeks ago, it's up and down depending on what tweaking I do to it. Today it's doing pretty good with $30 spent in adwords and $140 in sales. So $110 in profit for me so far. I'm experimenting with adwords. Trying to master it.

If you have any questions let me know.

fallingforme 12-06-2007 08:31 PM

-Ok, 30$ a DAY on ONE adword?

-Would do you think of downloading a free website template and using that?

-I dont have any programming skills. I just have ninja skills.

-I'm trying to follow your advice concerning making the website look very prof.

-What scared me is, if i download a template and use that one and not a program offered by the hosting company, i wont know how to configure that template to a shopping cart, or add and delete thigns to the site.

*Also, have you every considered a job in intelligence?

adwords made for people who dont know anything..
What you need is Searh engen optimization..
You need to have good PR.. you need to optimise your site an do lots of backlinks...
all of this will cost you moore then adwords and is allot better..
People dont dont klick as much on adwords... you need to be on top in google not on side ..

ebayhateluv 12-13-2007 06:07 PM

Aspkin- are these the same ad words, eby used to sell, with a link on their site, then they ditched them last year? If yes- it took some time, but you could always see your rank, i.e. If i wanted the #1 spot- i would look at who's #2 + #3- I could see what their range was, So i could bid (+ i id)- to PURPOSELY cause them to either pay the extra .25 or get off the #1 rank.. Does what you guys are talking about work similar? They used to let you fund with a cc- + then power sellers they would match your budget, as titanium, when budget depleted, you get email... sounds familiar or ami way off base?? I am interested for my own website..

aspkin 12-13-2007 06:21 PM

Yeah it's like that. It's the ads on the side of Google search.

If SEO without buying Adwords is so effective then ebay and other bigwigs don't have to spend tens of billions of dollars buying the little top space on right side of Google. Obviously, Adword is better than normal SEO, just the cost hurts, but that's OK as long as profitable sales are generated from Adwords.

aspkin 04-04-2008 06:31 PM

SEO does work very well if you know what you're doing. It just takes a lot more time and work to get things going; but if you do things right, you can find your self with a website generating tons of targeted traffic without costing you a penny. Adwords is great as well.

What everyone should do is have a combination of adwords and SEO.

Hey what about youtube for free SEO? Make a crap video with the keywords you want and your weblink. When someone types the words into google, youtube videos with those keywords appear very high. So I've read in an ebook.
