itemauctions | 03-23-2016 05:49 AM | Auction site back up I had some extra time to rebuild an old auction siteyou guys can go ahead and sell with no fees but unfortunately I won't be providing any customer service, Good luck to all and wish you success. |
Re: Auction site back up A true "good faith" kind of site eh? :) |
mtproducts | 03-23-2016 07:15 AM | Re: Auction site back up Had a quick look, Looks nice! how was it built? .php? |
itemauctions | 03-23-2016 04:38 PM | Re: Auction site back up Lol thanks for the compliments :-) I try my best on every site I build. This one is just a simple html, php+ mysql type low budget site. |
IGNAS | 03-23-2016 04:44 PM | Re: Auction site back up Site looks pretty decent (apart from the logo). :)
So customers pay via PayPal? |

phaz0rz | 03-23-2016 04:55 PM | Re: Auction site back up Shopping cart is seriously buggy.
Won't show more than a single item if you've committed to buy more than one thing |

itemauctions | 03-24-2016 01:41 AM | Re: Auction site back up I just sold all my old games on ebay and put all that money into adwords advertising. |
unkown5454 | 03-24-2016 01:45 AM | Re: Auction site back up your site is literally identical to another one i know. sure you "built" it?
like layout, text, etc...identical and this other place has been around for years. |
itemauctions | 03-24-2016 02:27 AM | Re: Auction site back up No I only designed the logo and know a bit of programming, anyone with a computer can easily build a website from buying a script weather it's successful or not is up to you. This just a fun project and pocket change compare to my other sites. |
unkown5454 | 03-24-2016 03:45 AM | Re: Auction site back up i know copying code is easy. you made it sound like you created it, which you didn't.
don't call yourself a coder |
Re: Auction site back up is this for real lol? |
itemauctions | 03-25-2016 02:57 PM | Re: Auction site back up Lol i'm a webmaster/coder this is my full time job bro |
itemauctions | 03-25-2016 03:22 PM | Re: Auction site back up And to add to that there are different levels of coders some are ones that work for a company and some are self taught. I already learned html and php, and now i'm reading a book on c++ and plus I don't waste my time or go out i'm a nerd. |

Maybe talk to some girls.
You're obviously young, not being truthful about your "other projects", and have mediocre at best coding skills. The only original part of your auction site is the logo, which looks like it was created in MS Paint. I used to have that font installed on my Macbook. You could have at least given the text in the logo some bevel or dropshadow :(
I'm just trying to understand why you wasted your money on advertising for an undeveloped website. You can't have an ecommerce platform with no customer service, you just can't. Nobody will shop there if they aren't protected, and nobody will sell there if they aren't protected.
Why did you even spend the money on hosting and on registering this domain? If you were really going to make this happen you could have set up a local webserver, so you could at least finish the site before publishing it. |
itemauctions | 03-25-2016 04:44 PM | Re: Auction site back up I don't wanna reveal my other sites though lol and i'm not trying to prove myself or impress anyone either, this is a site I made in 10 minutes and something I obviously do as a hobby. Thanks for your concerns. |

mtproducts | 04-08-2016 07:47 AM | Re: Auction site back up i dont laugh often but when i do jesus, ctrl-c + ctrl-v god that hit the spot.
Hate to let you know that you'll probably have to go back over the PHP again as PHP 7 has just arrived... BOOM.
Who knows maybe we'll see a little updated ASPKIN. :) |
zenohki | 04-08-2016 08:55 AM | Re: Auction site back up This reminds me of when my brother begged to build a new website for me, and when I finally agreed and did all my rebranding he bought a template and attached a shopping cart, then couldn't fix the errors and left it to rot.
And that boys and girls is why you trust no one when it comes to business, especially family. |

phaz0rz | 06-01-2016 06:16 PM | Re: Auction site back up I totally understand buying a domain to experiment with. Back in the days of Myspace I owned a customization site. It never got more than 50,000 views per month or so, I primarily just used it as a platform to practice PHP and ASPX (back when people still messed with that, lol).
You ought to apply you skills in an area where you might actually be able to turn a profit. Ebay and Amazon have the 3rd party seller ecommerce market on lock, so you might as well give up on getting into that unless you have millions of venture capital to play with. |
itemauctions | 06-02-2016 03:26 AM | Re: Auction site back up Update: Just bought some low budget advertising for this site I think is more effective than Adwords and should be up and running in a couple of hours
Edit: Going full-time advertising on this site with time breaks |
unkown5454 | 06-02-2016 06:46 PM | Re: Auction site back up webstore is an absolute mess with staff who can barely speak english. please don't aspire to be such an unholy waste of space on the internet |

Even if "item-auctions" takes off and becomes the next Ebay, how would you make even enough money to cover operating expenses? Selling fees is where Ebay makes their money. If they put a bunch of 3rd party google ads all over Ebay as an alternative revenue stream, people would stop going to Ebay.
Have you looked into affiliate marketing? I'm extremely new to the whole concept but I hear Aspkin is an expert. People report making 1000's of dollars per day, somehow. It's at least a way for you to make some money while perfecting your skills.
I like making money :thumb: |
phaz0rz | 06-02-2016 07:17 PM | Re: Auction site back up I can understanding aspiring to be like a website.. but ripping off their entire site ain't cool.
From your site:
At Itemauctions buyers and sellers can come together and trade just about anything without membership fees, bidding fees, or selling fees. You can find great bargains at Webstore because sellers don't have to mark up their products to cover fees and percentages typically charged by other online marketplaces. Join the excitement of a low winning bid on an auction item, or purchase instantly from the hundreds of thousands of fixed price items.
