| | | unkown5454 | 06-13-2016 03:48 PM | Groupon Stores just went live... Third party marketplace, different from the sh*tty merchant center they used to have. Set your own prices, no silly discounts. Signed up today and am awaiting approval on my first items. Sucks they have to be individually reviewed and they are warning the process can take up to 7 days. Selling fees are 15%. Payments are direct to your bank account. No steal.th life going on here, but I'm hoping that Groupon is big enough to bring me some nice traffic. |
Re: Groupon Stores just went live... Just signed up!

| dan_ebay | 06-13-2016 10:29 PM | Re: Groupon Stores just went live... expect it will be a complete failure but looks interesting.
15% straight away is a bit of a joke, nice guys atleast buy you sweets or drinks prior to raping you |
| unkown5454 | 06-14-2016 12:14 AM | Re: Groupon Stores just went live... Any marketplace with legit product promotion in search engines and adequate traffic is charging the same percentage, especially if they are ranking you high on Google Shopping.
The ones that don't, also don't have sh*t for traffic. Go ahead and try out the thousands of garbage dumpster fire marketplaces who charge nothing and see what happens. Be sure to report back with your incredible sales success.
"itemauctions" is a user here with a free marketplace, itemauctions.com. There, now you have a head start. Let me know if you make it past the occasional 404 errors. |
Re: Groupon Stores just went live... very interesting, worth a shot! |

But most big companies start cheaper when they bring out a new service.
And clearly they don't have adequate targeted traffic though unless their marketplace sellers are already selling as much on there as on amazon or ebay?
They don't even have adequate 'traffic' either from search engines:
groupon 27 mil per month
ebay 88 mil per month
amazon 330 mil per month
Roughly
And its nowhere near targeted enough, people go on groupon more to look for events sort of stuff rather than just products.
Not sure what your 'go try garbage marketplace' is about, you're the one on a (currently) garbage marketplace you silly sausage not me |

Or did I get something wrong.
Basically, just another way to sell generic seasonal items and iPhone chargers with illusion of discount? |

Not sure what your 'go try garbage marketplace' is about, you're the one on a (currently) garbage marketplace you silly sausage not me | You have tunnel vision if you only sell on EB and AZ. I'm not going to explain all the other marketplaces that are just as lucrative or more than those 2 depending on what you sell. It's only something that is understood by those who do sell in these other places, like myself. If you only want to work with AZ and EB, then you're more than welcome to.
Again, venture off into other successful marketplaces and you will see this fee is on point with everyone else. But, I guess you'll never know. |

I'll personally send you £5k if you show me other marketplaces that are generally 'just as lucrative' for anymore than a few obscure niches.
Bit bizarre that you try to rip the p!ss by saying I sell on small sites and now you're telling me small sites are just as lucrative lul
Didn't say the fee wasn't on point, just that most new marketplaces launch with a discount |
| jeffweico | 06-14-2016 11:21 PM | Re: Groupon Stores just went live... You get what you pay for. Amazon and eBay have the eyeballs and the customers.
It is just like renting a space in a shopping center. You are going to have a pay a lot more in rent to be there. Why? Because they have the TRAFFIC. You might find a small store in an old building where the rent is $500 per month. And if your items are popular enough, you might get some business in there and make a go of it. But if you want a LOT OF CUSTOMERS, you will have to go to the shopping center and pay $5,000 a month in rent. But you will have many, many more customers that the little store will. |

Does the 15% fee include credit card processing? Then its pretty much on par with everyone else if it is. |

| ilan316 | 12-12-2016 12:56 PM | Re: Groupon Stores just went live... Payments will be made bi-monthly. The first payment period is the 1st of the month to the 15th of the month. With payments being release 5 business days later. The second period is the 16th of the month to the end of the month. With payments being released 5 business days later. It can take 2-4 days for funds to appear in your bank account. |
