| jamesw2016 | 07-23-2016 01:18 PM | Etsy and Ecrater My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but I could not locate it in search.
I was wondering what general categories, if any, work well on Etsy and Ecrater? or are these sites even worth bothering with at all anymore?
I know Etsy is for handmade and vintage. I've tried both there for several years now. I sold a handful of items in 2014 and nothing since. Similarly with Ecrater except I have never had a sale there. On both sites I have specialized in art, photography and antiques / collectibles.
Anyway, any advice is welcome.
Thanks.

| TOOKNAPA | 08-12-2016 03:26 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater From my experience only :
- you can sell anything you want : vero, risky, even ill e gal sutff, I have some account, and I know there never had any review from ecrater staff.
- You are allowed to not accept paypal as payment method
- I made some facebook groups and pages where i advertise my product and redirect the buyers to my ecrater stores.
- Even if I don't understand how and why because I never filled the google attributes forms included in ecraters, some of my products are sold via Google store
- If you want you can configure it to pay 0% fees |
| GhostOfAmazon | 08-12-2016 04:54 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater How do you get traffic to the site? I've got one set up, but I've only had 6 sales in 18 months. |
| TOOKNAPA | 08-12-2016 05:07 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater I talk in many forum about category I sell. In most forums, you are not allowed to advertise your online shop, so I talk about my facebook pages, I don't need to write a link (most of the times links are flaged),I just write the name of it, so people go to visit my facebook page, and then they are redirected to my ecrater store. As many of them "Like" my facebook page, it brings new customers from facebook interested in the same products (that's the power of real "Likes" it brings targeted customers). I think 80% of my traffic comes from this. My main store made 360 sales since january
Also I use some an unfair method to advertise my store on ebay and amazon, but I think it's not the right place to talk about that |

| GhostOfAmazon | 08-13-2016 03:25 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater I think so? I'm not sure. Sometimes items show up in Google Shopping. I don't pay anything though. |
| unkown5454 | 08-13-2016 03:35 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater if an item is sold through GS, you pay a minimum of 2.9%
you can view your ad plan in the control panel to verify. |
| TOOKNAPA | 08-13-2016 04:09 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater maybe he only filled the form called "google attributes" on ecrater, and then your products appears on google shopping |
| unkown5454 | 08-13-2016 11:56 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater the only thing free is through direct sales. meaning they went to the website and searched.
Google Shopping and Google Search are also 2 different things but will show up similarly as a Google sale. Search is free while Shopping is not. |

| unkown5454 | 08-13-2016 09:21 PM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater ha, i have't sold there in years. they won't allow some of my products in the past. you've been there 18 months now? i may have to try the new site. they used to offer Google Shopping, but i don't think they do now. can you confirm? i won't waste my time if they don't push to GS. |
| GhostOfAmazon | 08-14-2016 01:50 AM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater I believe they do. I can't imagine that I got sales there organically. That site is god-awful in it's user interface----but completely free! |
| unkown5454 | 08-14-2016 01:40 PM | Re: Etsy and Ecrater yup, that's how it was when i started years ago, but then they dropped pushing to GS when Google started charging marketplaces. it was a free-for-all before that and I could post anything I wanted however I wanted so my listings show up at the top of GS results.
maybe i will try again with the new design if I can get GS back. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:39 PM. | |
