Hello to all and a "simple' IP question..
 

I have a 2Wire Modem/Router combination from AT&T and is operating in the "bridged" mode. Yesterday, I simply unplugged the 2Wire for a couple of minutes and upon powering the unit back up, noticed that my IP address (as recognized from my laptop) did, in fact change. It now indicates my location as the town next to my actual environ (about 20 miles away) - is this the IP change that is necessary to avoid PP and Ebay's tracking system, or is there
something else that needs to be done (ie, subnet mask, default gateway or Hardware address) to avoid detection?

Welcome to the forums - from my own experience, your IP change is good. Couple that with a new user account to avoid old cookies, beacons, and other whatchamacallits.

Thanks! Nice..that just seemed "too" easy and obviously I want to do this correctly.
Now if I am going to log-in to either site, I just need to remember to do it under my other user name on my laptop, correct? Also then, as long as I am not setting up or using more than 1 Ebay or PP account, I do NOT have to delete tracking cookies?

I don't delete cookies - just keep everything separate.

No - leave the cookies in place - it makes Ebay and Paypal purr - that's what you want
