Hi, we both got stung
 

Hey everyone,

I'm so frustrated. Both me and my fiancées PayPal accounts got limited the same day. My was for my website his was selling on ioffer. We sold two totally different things. I know there is no way both our accounts getting limited the same day is a coincidence.

same i.p, same address, same pc/laptop. Ring any bells..

Is this not something a phone call would sort out?
Nothing illegal about a couple selling on their laptops under the same roof sharing internet connection?

We have the same address but we have four computers in this house. Two mine two his and we've never logged into our accounts on the others computer, ever.

Yes, but if the accounts share the same internet connection (IP address) the same physical address, etc. then they were linked. My best guess is that the iOffer sales is what got the PayPal account limited. PayPal does not like iOffer.

When that happened, they searched for any other accounts that the user may have and came up with the other one and then limited it.

There are MANY, MANY cases of accounts of family members, roommates, etc. being limited when another household account went down.

Yea like all the others have said, they were linked on IP address alone.

All types of services do this. I set up a fresh LinkedIn account recently. No connections or anything. Completely fresh email also so no way of connecting anybody.

Next time I logged in it prompted me about knowing my housemates and also me (real personal profile). Bascically, it had immediately linked me to all the other accounts that use LinkedIn with the same IP Address.

I'm sure this has/could be exploited in some way.
