DHL collection notice

I'm so confused. I just got a collection notice in the mail thru a third party company, but for DHL, for $14.54

I've been using DHL for over 3 years and have never had to pay a due like this that comes in the mail. It says I have an account number etc, and I've never signed up for an account?

It's thru Synter Resource Group LLC

Come to think of it, I don't think I've gotten a package from DHL in over a month. Last few orders Ive got I wanted to test how fast HKpost was.

Anyone else have a similar situation or have any advice to give me?

Every order should have a duty fee mailed to you. Pay that Bill and you wont be in collections.

I've NEVER had this though. Why now? I didn't even know it was a thing.

Every order from DHL, UPS, FEDEX will have duty bill mailed to you. Maybe if it is a very small value they dont. My orders are usually robust.

Get in a habit of paying them or your address will be blocked. UPS will have a COD(Cash on delivery) if you miss a single bill. For a long time I had to pay duty in cash fro UPS because I had the same mentality of you. One time a 20,000 piece order was returned because of this issue. Cost me thousands in extra shipping and three weeks time and a slew of pissed off wholesale buyers. Since then I pay my duty. Silly not to.

Anything posted or couriered to you goes through customs to check it isn’t*banned or restricted*and you pay the right tax and ‘duty’ (customs charges) on it. You may have to pay*VAT, Customs Duty or Excise Duty*on goods sent from outside theEuropean Union*(EU) before you can collect them.

If your ordering from HK, I tend to find that if using HK/CN registered air mail I don't get any extra charges but have to wait longer.

Edited; You will find that D.H.L would of paid your duty fee for you and you owe them the duty fee plus their fee for doing it.

Re: DHL collection notice

Going back a few years I had some trouble with DHL.

They forgot to send me an invoice and i got a letter saying I owed them 85 GBP. I rang up and paid at once over the phone and the agent said my account was clear. However the money was never passed to the accounts dept and a few weeks down the line I got a letter from a debt collection agency for the same amount. Boy was I mad because I could prove Id made the payment.

To cut a long story short I made a formal complaint right to the top and threatened them with the county court. They messed me about some more. When they got the court papers claiming for inconvenience, damage to my reputation, court fees AND an hourly rate for preparing my case they made me a compensation offer. You really have to pay hardball with these people.

Now DHL make you pay the customs fees up front before they will deliver the package. Fedex still send me invoices. If I dont get one within 2 weeks I ring their accounts dept and make sure they send me a copy so I can pay it. Getting involved with a DCA can trash your credit rating.

Just paid with my card. Didn't want to get into a mess and $14 isn't too much to cry about.

Never heard of that but hey it's $14 just pay it and keep them off your butt and from going to collections. If it happens again I would definitely ask your seller what's going on.

Every DHL, Fedex and UPS order should have some sort of Duty. If not, your supplier is extremely low values on the packing slips or you are buying very small quantity and very low values.
