How to change IP Address With Modem/Router Combination?

Hello. I just started reading through eBay Stealth today, and am stuck in IP address change. I don't have any of the set ups mentioned, and need help on what to do if you have a modem/router combination? I can't seem to find any forum discussions regarding that?

I have Xfinity bundle, and the modem/router combo is an XFINITY XB3. My home phone is also connected to this.

In my experience with Comcast they use static IP's which can't be easily changed. The ONLY way I was able to get a different IP was by logging into the router/modem combo and switching it from Gateway to Bridge mode. You get a new IP but Bridge mode disables the WiFi router function and sets the box to act only as a modem, so you would need a separate Wifi router if you did this and wanted to use Wifi (duh).

I found it much easier to just get a couple VPN subscriptions.
