Different IP address with 2nd router (Charter)
Okay so here is my question. I have Charter Spectrum internet with a Netgear router and have a Static IP. So right now my IP is 97.xxx.xxx.253 or something like that. If I disconnect my router, and connect a different router to my modem and then connect, the different MAC address of the 2nd router will get me assigned a new IP address, correct? So then my IP there might be 97.xxx.xxx.211 or something like that.
If I then disconnect and connect the first router, will it then go back to 97.xxx.xxx.253? Or might it get a whole new IP?
I am getting conflicting information about this. Some people say with Charter you get 1 fixed IP address, even with different MAC addresses on the routers you will still have the same IP. Does anyone know for certain if this is the case that this method will work to get 2 IP address that you can return to again and again?
(Note: Before someone says, "why don't you try it and see" I haven't gone out and got the second router yet, I'm asking now before I do.)
