| tucstore | 07-07-2017 12:45 PM | using weak wifi hey so here is my situation
i have been staying in a hotel that uses a btwifi router
i was using the bt wifi of the hotel when my old ebay got banned
i have purchased a new account and a dedicated fresh ip so all is brand new and a brand new user account on the same computer
the problem is the wifi keeps cutting out
if im connected via my vpn fresh on my new user account
is there a chance the old ip will be reveled if im browsing and the wifi cuts out ? |
| phaz0rz | 07-07-2017 01:06 PM | Re: using weak wifi Yes, there's a small chance you'll reveal your real IP because it always takes a few seconds for your VPN to reconnect once you get your internet connection back.
There are tutorials on 24vc for configuring Windows firewall to block any non-VPN traffic. You could give that a try. I don't know the exact link but it's in the tutorials section on 24vc.com
EDIT: Correction - it's in the "blog" section on 24vc.com and it's the 2nd post down dated 3/3/2016 |

however i cant change the netowrk to a home or work as an option |
| phaz0rz | 07-07-2017 01:11 PM | Re: using weak wifi There is also VPN kill switch software out there but I can't say for certain if such software can be used with 24vc IP's. I can't remember the name but there's one VPN provider who provides kill switch software with their VPNs. |

| phaz0rz | 07-07-2017 01:26 PM | Re: using weak wifi You already said that. |
| phaz0rz | 07-07-2017 01:27 PM | Re: using weak wifi Are you using Softether to connect? If not, I recommend it. Softether will automatically re-connect your VPN if it drops out. |
| tucstore | 07-07-2017 01:29 PM | Re: using weak wifi theres a option on the software from the 24 guys that has redial if connection drops
is that what i sould tick x |
Re: using weak wifi If you have a dedicated proxy (IP) and you set it up via the Chrome (in fact, most browsers) settings, it acts as a dead switch. Meaning, every piece of traffic which goes through said server will go through that certain dedicated proxy unless you turn it off so disconnecting from WiFi will play no difference. |

I hadn't thought about that. However, I just checked in Firefox settings and it looks like it only gives you the option to configure a proxy and not a VPN. Do you know if it's possible to configure a VPN rather than a proxy in browser settings? That would be really useful information for a lot of people here if it's possible. |

I've noticed that if my VPN connection drops with Softether I can't load any web pages. But that might be because 95% of the time if my VPN connection drops, it's because my Wifi connection dropped.
Going back to your original question Softether would solve your problem. Since it automatically starts trying to reconnect if your VPN connection drops, and your VPN connection only drops when you lose Wifi, your Wifi IP wouldn't be exposed. Because you can't load any web pages when you lose your Wifi connection. Do you get what I'm saying? |

:peace: | Ok so no the Chrome settings wont work, and my bad for overlooking that piece of information.
For Windows:
With Linux its even easier, I doubt many are using Linux though.
If you are still lost just make a habit of going to ipchicken.com everytime you log onto the VPN, if the VPN dies mid-way through a task on eBay/PayPal just dont refresh the page and you will be fine. |

ipburger.com doesn't sell services, it's nearly an exact copy of ipchicken.
He sells VPN subscriptions on secure.ipburger.com, which only recently came into existence. Before 2017 ipburger was only a site to show/log your IP addresses. |
