Verizon JetPack 7730L

I have my IP written down

looks like my amazon account just got suspended

is there anyway to get a new IP with the Jetpack or is the jetpack shot bc of the MAC address?

So for the 100,000,000,000,000 on this forum....MAC addresses aren't seen by Amazon. Your IP probably was not the problem. Did you use a new User Account? or similar?

Amazon, Ebay, PayPal aren't going to ban IP's from a major Network.

Re: Verizon JetPack 7730L

My IP wasn't the problem they wanted a invoice for a $8 used item that was five years old so I got booted for that so my IP address on the hot spot is 192.168.1.4

If my IP changes to 192.168.1.5 am I good to go with that IP

Does the c class and d class have to change or just the d class

Even if you change by 1 Digit, you are fine.

Noooooooooo!!

You're about to screw yourself big time. You need to research the difference between your public(internet) and private(local intranet) IP address. Any 192.168.x.x IP address is your LOCAL address used by devices on your LOCAL network. To get your public IP, type "show my IP" into a google search.

You're also confused about the definition of IP address classes. There are Class A,B,C, and D addresses but that's irrelevant. The 4 sets of numbers in an IPv4 address are called "octets" lol.

@OP, have you used ipburger to check your ip?

mm34505 11-02-2017 09:15 PM

Re: Verizon JetPack 7730L

this is what IPBurger says...

2600:1006:b067:9ad3:3474:f75:8827:3590

How do I change this on a jetpack?

would a simple power down and power on do this?

now my IP is
2600:1006:b02e:cb56:e08e:3b19:d9f3:c6af

so did that do the trick...someone confirm please

You have an IPv6 address. You most most likely have an IPv4 also. Type "show my IPv4 address" into google before and after a reboot of your wifi thing just to make sure both addresses are changing.

I confirm you've changed your IP enough to be safe.

is the address I posted above the IP v6?

So just verify that both v6 and v4 are different? will they only change when i restart the jetpack or will they keep switching?

Re: Verizon JetPack 7730L

I'll try to break it down so you don't have to Google, lol. The address you posted above is your IPv6.

IPv6 is the successor to IPv4. IPv6 is replacing IPv4 because the last IPv4 addresses were issued years ago. At this point most devices using IPv6 also have an IPv4 address (using a tunneling protocol) since most websites are not yet able to handle IPv6 addresses.

Chances are that if your IPv6 address has changed then you IPv4 address has also changed. But it doesn't hurt to check by typing what I said into Google.

OKay thank you for that! I was about to go buy a new jet pack after i spent 150 on this one a week ago!

So just check to make sure IPv6 and IPv4 is different and I am good

does the IPv6 change every time I restart the jetpack or does it change everytime I restart the computer?

I can't say for sure since I don't own one. If you got a new IP by rebooting the Jetpack (which apparently was the case), then I think it's safe to say you get a new IP by rebooting the Jetpack. I don't think restarting your computer will change your IP on the Jetpack since you wouldn't be rebooting the Jetpack by rebooting your computer.

Only surefire way to test that assumption would be to reboot the device multiple times and check your public IP each time.
