PayPal knows I am using a VPN!
 

Hi everybody!

I called into PP today about my stealth acct to get something resolved, I got it resolved. Just as we were about to end the call, the rep said she could see that I was using a VPN and that that was against PP policy. She gave me a pass this time, but mentioned that I needed to stop.

A couple of questions:

1) Is anyone else experiencing this?

2) Is it normal for them to be able to tell I'm using a VPN?

3) Most importantly, what can be done to resolve this, or a good alternative? Off the top of my head I was thinking of using my cell phone's hotspot.

Cell phone hotspot works.

Oh yeah PayPal can detect a lot of info about an internet connection.

That sassy staffer should have put that in writing though.

So just connect to hotspot and that's it? No fancy VPN, Proxy, etc needed? And Mr. PayPal will be ok with that? (I'm assuming the PayPal hotspot IP changes each time)

Ebay and paypal always know if you are using a VPN.

Paypal know when you use VPN.
I buy paypal and ebay account 400.00) on this website, with every thing verified, and seller tell me to use 24vc dedicated fresh ip (75.00 every 3 Months).
at first Paymet receieved , paypal send me message to want to verify documents ( foto ID -send the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ driving license + address -send electric bill) all are the same documents ( seller who sell me account send to me ,and he have used to open account- I don't go say name now,will do later with aspkin administrator).
what I want to say ,is that paypal suspended my account and tell to send documents WITH OUT ANY PROXY TO KNOW LOCATION
as im out of my country every year for about 4-5 months, and have to still use 24vc- now suspended, from paypal,and already cancel 24vc ip account too.
contact seller say, not is responsibility, that's 24vc IP problem. who sell me the account and send me link to buy 24vc?? seller .
BUT PAYPAL KNOW IF YOU USE VPN or not.just lost over 500.00 (account and 24vc ip)

If PP has issues with people using VPN, why then is it recommended in the stealth guide? I use IPburger's and no issues so far. But I'll report back if anything.

I will give the Stealth Guide the benefit of the doubt, as there are always new things with eBay/PP. This seems to just be on the horizon, so I'm sure the Guide will address it soon. But yes per the rep I spoke with, it is against their Policies & Procedures and if I kept using one, they would "shut me down" [emoji51]

Nothing new about ebay or paypal being able to detect VPN. If you are having a problem, odds are you listed something they did not like and looked deeper into the account and simply did not trust it.

@ernest2449, as long as your cookies are in place and you avoid overlapping IPs across accounts in general, the hotspot is fine - you can also look at dongle use and cellphone tethering

Thanks rsot, you pretty much just answered what I was wondering. Yes I would have a separate user acct on my computer just that PP. That should take care of watching the cookies, right?

In terms of overlapping IPs, it's my only stealth so I should be good right?

Does ppal can detect vps?Is it not allowed by ppal too?

yup they can track it but you should know how they know about vpn?
most of VPN based on hosting service can be detected very easily,
2nd DNS leaks.
IPV6 leak.
even you fix 1st two one you can't stop IPV6 leak coz mostly vpn didn't provide IPV6 type,
hope above information could help you.
btw use residential IP / VPS

Correct about using separate user account.

If it's your only stealth, it's fine - but make multiple accounts to spread sales

Thanks rsot - and yes definitely going to get more stealths going. Just wanting to work out the links and get the process down on this first one.

And I'm assuming there's no identifying information PP can detect by me using my phone's hotspot? Such as cell number, etc etc?

IP gives identifying info about location - nothing really to worry about unless you are up to something seedy or problematic - are you?

Ha only if you consider getting booted off my main eBay acct making a living for my family after 11 years (Pretty much all of our stories on here lol)

No not worried about location - just didn't know if my cell's hotspot would somehow allow for detection of my cell's ph number (which is attached to my main eBay)

1. I hear that - it's a sad story but not at all rare actually :( That's why you need a few accounts rather than 1 - just fyi

2. Cell's hotspot won't give the ph number so you're fine

I have had some not very good news today along these exact lines with Paypal and also using 24vc.....

will reserve final update and judgement until 24vc reply to my open ticket on the subject, but its just cost me three accounts it would seem..
