advice guys ref ip
 

i just changed from BT to sky internet the ip looks very similar can you be assigned the same ip from a new internet isp or do they run there own pool it used to come up in another town so guessing its changed but not sure ? any help guys

ISP's are assigned pools of IP's so it's not possible you're getting the same one from both ISP's.

How are you checking your IP? It's possible you're looking at your local IP.

just on general look up say whatsmyip what it is just once i logged in by accident from BT and they was all over it like a rash not that its linked to a suspended account just one i traded on for a very long time so used o2 since but decided to get sky and the ip looks very similar now don't get me wrong i did not note the BT ip but i'am guessing like you said they can't be the same with another isp many thanks for your reply

so the local one is like a signal box or transfer box then it changes from that again ? is that the case ? many thanks
