Dynamic IPv6 Address?

So I've been keeping track of my IP address (see below) and it seems that I have a dynamic address but it's always IPv6 ip addresses.

I noticed that the sequence of the first 4 sets of numbers stays the same. Since I don't know much about IPv6 address, can someone tell me if this is secure?

Just trying to make sure I can be tracked by just that root set of numbers.

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

What are you using for a internet connection? Cell/MiFi or Ethernet?

Also what computer are you running? Windows 7, 10? Mac OS, or Linux?

I ask because your best bet is to disable IPv6 and I need to know what OS your running to tell you the best way to go about it...

If you have IPv6 you also have a IPv4 in the background... Unless your using a VPN that only runs on IPv6.... But I doubt that's the case... but its possible

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

I'm connecting via WiFi to the Service/Ethernet box (no router) on Comcast Xfinity Service

MacBook Running Mac OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra)

I think I'm good since the physical public address is not the same each time, wucha think?

I appreciate the reply :)

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Open a terminal and run the command:

Code:

networksetup -setv6off "Wi-Fi"
if your on Ethernet:

Code:

networksetup -setv6off "Ethernet"
To list all network devices the cmd is
Code:

networksetup -listallnetworkservices
That's how i disable IPv6 on my VM running High Sierra 10.13 Final...

After you run that cmd your IPv6 will be disabled... But it will also unlock the option in System Preferences (aka settings) < Network < Unlock to make changes (lower left padlock looking thing) < Advanced < Configure IPv6 < off...

But I think if you turn IPv6 back to auto (on) and reboot you will have to enter the cmd in the terminal again... If you leave it disabled Im almost positive it remains persistent after reboot..

Ive only been testing MacOS for 2 days so if there is a better way don't jump me... (but 2 days for me is like a life time to some... i find my way around a OS quick...)

No, I don't think you are good. Because you also have a IPv4 at the same time... Your IPv6 might not be duplicating... But your IPv4 could be and you would never know... 100% for sure what ever marketplace your on is capturing your IPv4...

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Damn, I think i may have compromised one or more of my accounts by logging IPv6 IP address and opposed to IPv4.

I may have logged in with the same IPv4 address once or twice in the background while logging the IPv6 addresses, but you are right, how can we be sure?

Do you think they will link the accounts even if none of my accounts were suspended?

Thanks for the terminal, code, it worked like a charm...

I really appreciate all the help!

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

I just signed up for a IPBurger Fresh IP but it locates me in Las Vegas and I'm in Miami, is this going to be an issue. I thought I read somewhere that everything needs to be set up within 150 miles of your address.

Just want to make sure I'm secure before I go ham on creating a bunch of accounts.

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Location of the VPN doesn't matter as long as it's in the US and your making US accounts...

I would have saved the VPN until your 90 days into the account... Used Cellular until then... Just in case your account creation isnt good... you wont waist the money on the IP...

Your still going to have to disable IPv6 and now you'll need to add a Kill Switch to the mix...

Not quite sure how ham you can go with IP's that cost $120/year... but what ever works for you.

nate-
I recently have had all my accounts linked (https://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-d...nced-user.html)

and am wondering if not keeping track of the ipv6 had anything to do with it. I'm still confused as to what it is, but another member suggested that ipv4 may have changed but ipv6 remained the same. I used the method of cable modem and separate router, changing the digits in wireless Mac and restarting the router. I used ipbutger to track each ipv4. I too have a Mac computer, use safari, and it's Sierra, 10.12.3

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Also, to disable ipv6 via the terrain command, do I need to do it on each computer user or does it disable it for all?

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Thanks Nate, I disabled IPv6 and am going to be super careful in the future.

I plan on getting a lot more accounts so IPBurger will come in handy for sure.

How can I check my IPv6 address ? I am not in the US and probably there is no IPv6 in my country.

When I try to find in google there is only N/A, Not Detected or Could not get your IPv6 address.

If it says you have no IPv6... Then should be good. The safe bet is to disable it on what ever OS your using or Network adapter if your using Windows...

Re: Dynamic IPv6 Address?

Test it again on https://test-ipv6.com/ - No IPv6 address detected, You appear to have no IPv6 at this time..

In the future when/if IPv6 come here, how can I disable it in Windows and I am using phone tethering android and dongle ?

Here is a IPv4/IPv6 dual stack test, to check both at the same time...
