I need help

Hey guys my internet is Spectrum, the modem model I currently have is one of those all in one jobs. Anyways I did everything in the book to get a new IP and it didnt give me one. Someone mentioned I need a different router?

If this is true which router do I need?

If this is not true does that mean I can never change my ip?

Don't know about spectrum specifically but I also have one of those modem/router combos. I use my own router and just disable the router function of the modem I got. I find that when I change the MAC address (spoof it) within my router ill get a new IP address.
If you have an old router lying around might be worse giving it a try to see if that works.
