Best plan/phone to tether
 

Hey Everyone,

I am in the process of starting up a new stealth, and was planning on using a prepaid phone to tether to my laptop. I know eventually I will have to find a more sustainable solution, but it's not a bad way to start the account at least.

I want to also be able to talk on the phone/receive texts for PayPal/bank.

I just need some tips on some good plans/phones that would help me get started. I'm very cheap so I always feel kinda ripped off either way.


Was thinking of using Mint Mobile. But I'm not sure if that's enough data, 3 gigs.

Bandwidth monitors and limiter programs can give you an estimate of what you'll end up using every cycle.

3gb should be enough if used solely for account management. Verizon's 'unlimited' plan throttles you down to 650kb/s after you've used up your hotspot data. Kinda slow, can still browse web/fill orders okay. Depending on your signal strength (db reading) a cellphone booster/repeater is worth the $350 used.
