IP Burger VPN high CPU load ?

Hi is it normal for my i7 5820k to have a high cpu load when I am not connected to the VPN ?

I use Core Temp to monitor my PC as I do a lot of video editing as well and core 2 is sitting at 35-45c / 45% when I am not in my editing software. Usually they all sit at around 0% - 5% when just browsing the web and idling.

Not normal. Run diagnostics.

Softether won't use more than 10% of my crappy CPU even when connected.

Bkgd programs like malware or so in effect to be cleaned out?

No other programs, just Avast anti virus. It did ask me for permission to make the VPN an exception which I did.

In all fairness my PC isn't running slow at all. But I do monitor temps with core temp and was just concerned.

I still can't think of any reason your CPU would be at 45% load when your PC is idle and you aren't even on the VPN, unless somebody is using your spare CPU resources to mine crypto, or some other backdoor activity. If you're tech savvy enough you could run wireshark as an admin and find out if there's any unauthorized network activity causing the extra CPU load.

Or simply disconnect from the internet? Would that work?

I'm just saying that it might would be able to at least see if that controls it...

And then go from there...

I think it's definitely software related. Disconnecting from the net ENTIRELY doesn't do anything. And the core in use keeps changing. It's gone from c0 to c5. PC isn't slow, fan isn't on or anything but I can see a single core being used at 40-45%

It's the VPN software.

Done some searching on Google found these:

OK ... It's not the VPN software.

I started to close applications 1 by 1.

It's AVG anti virus / firewall

Does the task manager show what is using the CPU?

EDIT: Nevermind... I see you found it.
