Spectrum IP Address

I have Spectrum as my Internet provider. I have both a modem and a router to connect. Will simply unplugging them and plugging them back in be sufficient for giving me a new IP address for eBay?

I'm confused. When I go to whatismyipaddress.com I get this- 2600:6c4a:1b7f:ebdd:2c78:73fe:de9:4763

However, when I go to whatsmyip.org I get this: 47.26.176.4

Re: Spectrum IP Address

Do a google search for "what is my IPv4?"

The long IP you're seeing is your IPv6, which is irrelevant. You have an IPv4 and an IPv6 and the IPv4 is what you should track.

Also, Google says your IP address is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Weird, right?

It's very unlikely that unplugging your router/modem is going to get you a new IP with Spectrum in 2019.

Confusing statement, since static IPs are the ones that don't change. lol

Your correction is also misleading lol... MOST people have dynamic IPs nowadays, despite them seldomly changing. Static IPs usually cost extra, and are kinda rare.

I realized I wasn't making any sense thanks to you. :)

To clarify : Dynamic IP's are the norm now but ISP's won't usually let you change them at will. Your modem's MAC address has an IP assigned to it. Comcast taught me that it's used to tie your internet service to your cable account, so they can turn off your internet if you don't pay. If IP's weren't assigned to MAC's then anybody would be able to plug in a modem from eBay and get free internets. Thus, using a different modem or changing your modem's MAC to try getting a new IP won't work because the modem won't be recognized (I tried). And restarting your modem will just get you the same IP over and over.

Your router has nothing to do with any of this. It just handles local network traffic in your home.

Right. I must have caught you in the middle of multiple edits, because you said exactly the opposite lol

All is well now!

You can use any number of methods to spoof your MAC address in order to get a new IP address with such ISPs.
Also, check your P address in whoer.net - I always found it very informative.

I like this site here - http://f.vision/

On it you can see in what black lists the IP is, and how much the settings of my system are similar to a real user from another country.

No that will not change your IP. You have to change you Mac address on your router to get a new IP. There's also a service called AffiliateStealth that has spectrum internet on all their PC's and they allow you to change you IP anytime using an IP changer on their PC's when you rent them.
