How to use my friend's IP address?
 

I have a friend in another country (china )and he can keep his computer running for 24 hrs. What software does he need to install in order for me to use his IP address securely? I am hoping to use set up https proxy on my firefox and change my IP to his IP. This is not vps.

Softether VPN Server on their machine and VPN Client on yours would work.

Or you could just setup a VPN using Windows if you're both using Windows.

I don't know how to do it as a proxy instead of VPN.

have him setup teamviewer probably the easiest route

Thank you. The reason why I want to use https proxy is because it won't affect me using other local websites. I could also copy and paste data easily between browsers. Is it difficult to setup a proxy server?

Logmein also works as an option

Last time I wanted to do this TeamViewer and Logmein were very slow for my Chinese suppliers (they connected to my PC at the time to manage my accounts).

And with Chinese's firewall would proxy work? I'm sure your friend is on proxy just to connect outside of China?

Didn't think of Greatwall. It looks like setting a proxy in this country is harder than other countries.

You could configure whatever IP address you like on your device, including your friend’s, but packets from other parts of the internet, destined to your friend’s IP address, will be routed to your friend’s device, not yours, so you will not be able to do almost anything useful with it
