cant seem to get a new ip
 

Hey guys
I moved to a new town (going back to school) and i cant seem to get a new ip address. I used to be able to just unplug it and get a new one instantly. No luck now. I have tried ip release and ip renew with no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated I have a wired modem with 10meg Cunningham com service. Local service very small town 2000 people. any help will be appreciated thanks

?local service in a small town might mean calling them to see if the IP is static or dynamic. If it's static then it never changes easily.
Depending on how many accounts you have, maybe consider dial-up.:peace:

I Have thought of that and looked it up they do offer a Static Ip but it is 5 dollars extra. and i am not paying for it.

If you do not want static, I agree not to pay extra. Is dial-up not suitable?

If you have a router in the mix, change your router's wan Mac address and reset your modem.

Or just use dial up as GB suggest and use Auctiva or another auction lister to manage your listings.

As i read my post back i think that might have been taken the wrong way. When i said i am not paying for it, I ment that i looked on the bill and it was not a charge. I think the way i said it kind of sounded like, Ha IM not paying 5 extra dollars a month, you know kind of pissy like.

My ip renews 24hrs. But no matter what i do it wont change the ip. For my last account I went and bought a new NIC (I think the new MAC Address gave me a new ip)

New Question If i want to run 3 accounts at the same time. Can I put 3 NICs in my PCI slots. Then change the cable with the different account. I dont see why this would not work. I would get a new ip with every cable change because of the new MAC. Right?
It would be alot of time spent in Network connections but this would solve the problem right?

It would probably be easier if you got a router.. and just changed the mac address on the router when you needed to change your Ip address.

Can you recomend a router for me.

I use Netgear myself.. cheap and very easy to use.

I also have Netgear. How do I change MAC VAN address, please?
