Resetting IP through modem?
 

I tried resetting my IP by shutting off/unplugging my modem (Arris TM1602A modem from Spectrum) multiple times (from 30 minutes to 24 hours), but it stays the same. My router is Google Mesh, which I've shut off and unplugged multiple times as well. Am I missing something for this method?

And if I can't manage to reset through this method, should I be getting a new modem or router for a quick fix?

First question I'd be asking myself is do I have a dynamic or fixed IP?

If the latter then you've got a problem regardless of the hardware you use and will either need to change it or use a V.P.N.

Better clarify with your provider - perhaps your IP is static

Some ISPs do not reset the IP if you reset the modem

In your case you'll either need an IP solution alternative like IPburger, or a hotspot from a different ISP that does generate a new IP every time you reset the device
