Does adding a router on top of my ISP router change public IP address?

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask as I see a lot of people here claming things as facts when they are not true, but I will give it a shot.
Basically my ISP told me that if I want another router of my choice I have to connect it to the one they assigned me, so I was wondering weather this would change the IP address and if so would it be any different from just restarting the ISP router as I have a dynamic IP.

The router from your provider is the direct connection to the net for you, right? If so, then powering it off and then on, would reset your IP and give you new iP as per dynamic service you have

Right, I am familiar with this. The issue is tust the new ip is bery similar to tue old one. I was wondering if adding a different router would give a very different ip address

No it wont, you get one IP assigned by your provider but it can be changed as you have a dynamic IP.

Yes if you have a home internet connection, you will more than likely have a dynamic I P address, as you mentioned when switched off and on you get a similar number range on the address, that is because your internet provider has a range of IP addresses issued, that will be close in numbers for them.
Only way to get a different number range is another ISP or a VPN.
