Can my router give out multiple IP addresses

I lost my ebay suspension virginity yesterday. Sucks. I'll keep it short though.

My wife started her account about 3 days before mine was suspended. But, I've already changed the IP. If she logs in to her account with the new IP and then I get my new account with the new IP will we be linked?

I have a cable modem -> router -> PC (desktop) and my wife uses a laptop with a built in wireless card. So here's my question. Is there any way to assign her a different IP on her laptop (through the router) and have a different IP on my desktop?

Thanks!

I'm surprised your wife's account hasn't been suspended yet. It's most likely linked if you guys shared the same internet and personal information (name / address).

I'm sure there is a way to have one IP for the laptop and another IP for your desktop. Though I failed my Cisco class and can't help you there. :p

Maybe get a cheap second internet connection like dial-up.. or just switch IPs each time you connect to an account (it's not that hard). You have a lot of options if you just think about it.

Good luck!

I could get a 2nd modem probably. Maybe that's the only solution.

Also, does anyone go back to their original account when the suspension is lifted?

No. My wife's laptop has the same IP as my desktop.

Wall - Cable Modem - Router - Port1 of Router to PC

Is there another way to do this?

I thought i read that if you change your routers then each time you switch you get s new ip address

Bigmac you're talking about something completely different.

Fulfer is talking about both computers connected to the router are getting the same IP address (which they should be); and wants to know how to get two different IPs for each computer.

I did the two modem thing for awhile fulfer.. it worked alright but was still a pain. You might as well get a mobile broadband card if you're going to do that.

Yes, mobile broadband card is the way to go.

I have an iPhone. I might try the teather option before I go mobile broadband. I'd rather go that route than spend the extra money on the mobile option.

tethering an iphone is mobile broadband......

The device does not matter. You either have a dedicated connection card, or you use a phone as a modem. The technology / cellular connection are the same.

Looks like I made the mistake of updating to the 3.1.3 and my phone isn't jailbroken. Any tips?

Yes, get rid of ATT. Sprint or Verizon works great for this, and it's 59.99 per month, and no Luke Wilson commercials. Worth it for that alone.
