Question about IP

How do you change a static IP address? I have tried everything I have read here but it's not working, my IP address is still the same when I use Firefox.
When I use AOL it varies between two different IP addresses.
I need to change my Static IP Address, someone please help me.
Thank you

.

Vicvelcro 06-14-2010 06:21 AM

You can not change a static IP address. Period. Only your provider can change an IP address that is assigned as static.

We have made that abundantly clear many times. I made it quite plainly clear in reply to your other post.

Asking again will not change the answer.

If you want to change your static IP, you must convince your provider to change their policy OR cancel your service and find a new provider that issues dynamic IP addresses.

It's it. And that's that.

You can get a program which basically masks your IP address.
Im using one

I am not promoting.

Dont guarantee it will work but i will let you know if i do get suspended

Hi

Would having wireless broadband be an option for obtaining a new IP address?

Go up to vicvelcro's post above at the very bottom of the post you will see an "About ip's" link click it for step by step instructions

@siccspitz---There IS NOT 1 good safe program available out there that can effectively Mask your IP from Ebay, it is simply impossible

Vicvelcro 06-18-2010 12:32 AM

When you say 'wireless', be more specific.

Wireless G/B? Wireless bluetooth? Wireless infrared? Wireless cellular?

Each kind is different.

Point to note: wireless is a generic term for any kind of internet not physically wired. My cable is wireless because my router has antennas. My nephew's cell phone is wireless if I tether to it AND if I bluetooth hack him when he's texting his squeeze. My printer is wireless g to my router and it's also infrared. I can infrared tag my printer and use invisible light to get G into my HFC.

I really wish people would begin to be specific about the questions they ask.

I thought i was specific enough when i said wireless broadband! Meaning Wireless internet

Vicvelcro 06-18-2010 07:40 AM

Duh.

Perhaps you aren't qualified enough to think, then.

Wireless how? Re-read my post. You neglect to say what wireless adapter you use. Each is different, to repeat myself.

Speak up or expect no answer.

I will attempt to help you. But you have to meet me half way. Help ME help YOU. Don't ask half an empty question.

I am referring to a wireless Broadband USB Modem

Vicvelcro 06-19-2010 01:18 AM

Ok, we're getting closer.

In answer to your question in #4: Probably be a good solution. It does depend on the provider, though. Some will always get the same IP when the unit is reset. Most will get a fresh IP. The list of fresh IPs may be somewhat small (5-10).

Now, if you can name the service you are using or would like to know more about, somebody else here can probably give you answers specific to your geographic location.

Or you could ask others which service they use and how it handles IP on reset.

Yes, that would work. You could input a different static IP on each one of your 5 user accounts. I thought about this too.

The problem lies when you lose one or more of your of your accounts. That static IP of the banned account is not good anymore and you wouldn't want to chance it on another fresh account.

Will your ISP let you delete that IP and add a new one? They probably wouldn't care for that.

Vicvelcro 06-20-2010 12:00 AM

Getting 5 IPs means you can use them on 5 accounts. As stated above, what happens when one burns out?

Best to have a dynamic connection and just switch the sneaky way.

The usa is a bit more updated than us in regards to wireless broadband. I have wireless broadband with bigpond (i cannot get adsl where i am) and yes its dynamic ips - ranges about 5 different ones over a broadish area (suburbs within 20-30mins from me can have the same ip).

Which IP?

New here and have what is probably a dumb question? What IP address does eBay see? The router IP or the IP that comes up on IP Burger? I have Verizon DSL with a Verizon supplied Wireless Router. I can change the IP address that IP Burger shows by unplugging the router overnight. Is that good enough?

slapped 07-11-2010 10:25 AM

Yes, as for the IP address goes, now you must change the MAC Address on the Router

yazman 07-12-2010 07:28 AM

According to EBAY STEALTH 3.0 Book, eBay cannot see your MAC address. Also cannot change MAC address by their instructions. I have Verizon DSL. 1 box.(WESTELL ADSL+2 MODEM ROUTER) phone line plugs in and I connect wireless. Again I do not have a router and modem, 1 box. I can access setting via 192.168.1.1 but cannot change Mac address as show in the ebook. Also why would I need to change MAC address if IP address is changed already? Thanks for your help!
