AT&T Uverse VS AT&T DSL (IP)

Last year, I had at&t DSL. I connected via gateway wireless router. With this, I was able to change my IP from resetting my router.

I am moving next month and I am interested in AT&T UVERSE so I can get rid of my comcast plan. BUT... from what I have read, UVERSE is has a static IP that can not be changed.

Whats the verdict?

Should I stick with DSL?

Stick with DSL.. UVERSE is static.

Static IP - the fear of all stealth users.

DSL is also usually fast enough for most users. When I moved into my house, I ordered DSL and DirecTV. I couldn't stand the thought of staying with Comcast and their endless rate increases (oops.. excuse me, "rate restructurings" - which always just coincidentally happened to increase my bill).

DSL installed just fine. DirecTV told me that there were too many trees in my backyard and they could not get a signal unless I wanted to cut 4 trees down (which I would never do).

I hooked up the ROKU box to my TV for Netflix and their other channels and never looked back. $10 per month instead of $100 for my contribution to the Comcast Profits Protection Program (CPPP). Works just fine over DSL too.

Do you really need the cable? Who watches all those channels??? Most of them I never even watched - they don't interest me. And now with Netflix & Hulu, I can still watch more than 90% of what I used to watch anyway. Most of the rest can be found online, LEGALLY. Add another $10 per month and you can have 3 DVD';s out from Netflix at any given time - and see the movies BEFORE they hit cable.

Cable TV is just SO 1990's...

I agree! I dumped my cable awhile back and I don't regret it.
