Problems changing IP address

I contacted my ISP and they told me that my IP address was dynamic. They told me that it couldn't be changed. They suggested that I unplug my modem for 1/2 a day and my IP address might be reassigned...but no guarantee. Any suggestions?

It sucks...really. They have told me the same thing before; however, I am wondering if there is a program around that will help switch the IP instantly.

I will look around 2night and see what I find.

Did you ever find out anything about this? I use Windows 7 and am having a hard time changing my ip address!! It changes between 3 different numbers but nothing outside of that.
