Tethering with my htc on Tmobile in the uk

Thinking of tethering my htc desire on tmobile.

So all I need to do is put it in airplane mode and I will get a new ip everytime?

How does one check the ip address on the desire?

I have used it in the past for a suspended account so would it be wise to use it again ?
