How to: Change/Renew FiOS IP Address w/ Actiontec Router
 

After searching and searching, I could not find a solid solution to changing/renewing my IP with my FiOS Actiontec router, until I put together a few suggestion I found and I think I figured it out.

1. Access your Actiontec Routers GUI- Open Internet Explorer or Firefox and enter "192.168.1.1" in the address bar (without quotes:doh:) then press enter.

2. By default your user name is "admin" and Password is "password1" or "password".

3. Click "My Network" at the top of the page after you log in.

4. Next Click "Network Connections" on the left side of the screen. This will bring you to your connections. This method is specifically for the "Broadband Connection (Coax)", but should work the same way for the Ethernet connection.

5. Now click "Broadband Connection (Coax)", scroll down and click settings.

6. In the middle of the page you should see "DHCP Lease" with the options to Renew or Release. Please make sure you are within arms reach of your router for the next step.

7. Click "RELEASE" and wait for the "Internet" LED on your router to change color to orange then immediately disconnect the power to your router. Wait 5 - 10 mins and reconnect your router and you should have a new IP.
