Even with a new IP address, dare I use my NIC?

I use a laptop, so cannot change my NIC.
Following guides up here, I alter my MAC address, to get a new IP address via my cable modem.

My plan is to change that MAC address 10 seperate times, and with each new IP address, I'll create a new eBay account.

In doing this, I should still stay wireless though, correct?
eBay tracks my NIC ID, right?...thus, I shouldn't hardwire to my router.
Is that correct?

(BTW, the talent up here, and brains, is mind boggling. Thanks for all the effort, gang)

Changing the MAC Address of your NIC will only give you a new local IP, your aim in stealth is to change the wide area IP. This is the IP address assigned to your router or modem.

Your local IP is found when you got to Command prompt and type in 'IPCONFIG', it will be under IP Address: xxx.xxx.x.xx

Your WAN IP can be found by going to such sites as IPBurger | What is my IP Address? Find Your IP Address!

The WAN IP is the one that eBay can see.

With your NIC being local, no eBay cannot track your NIC IP or MAC address.

Good but idea have you tried changing the MAC address of your modem yet?

I should have been more clear.
I do not plan on changing the MAC address of my NIC. I plan on changing the MAC address of my cable modem....that way I'll get a new wide area IP.

So, again, I plan on changing the MAC address on my cable modem, and get a new wide area IP. I'll verify it with IPBurger.

I'll do this 10 times, and create 10 eBay accounts.

My primary question tho, is, do I need to do this all wirelessly? Or is it ok to be hard wired to my router when doing this? Does that part of the puzzle matter?
(I'm using a 6 port {+wireless} router hanging off of my cable modem)

I thought you meant that but I still put the other info to be safe ;)

I don't think any of this does matter, I think being connected to the router via cable as opposed to wireless when changing certain settings is probably better, especially if you keep losing connectivity when applying them through wireless but as you probably know, it is only your WAN IP that is important here! Making sure that it changes for each of your 10 accounts.

I will :bump: your thread for answers from other forum members who are using a similar set up but I think what you are doing is the correct method.

As long as your IP changes with each MAC Address you clone, which as you said you will verify with 'what is my wan ip' sites, then I think you have it nailed. :thumb:
