Do I need to change the IP address?
 

Probably not the right site to check it but I've been on What Is My IP Address? Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more... and it's given my location as about 60 miles away from where I actually live.

I have a relative in that area and I can use her address to create a new PayPal account (whether it will stay open or not is a different issue) but if I left my IP address as it is and just signed up with her address from my computer, would they suspect anything?

I'm not sure I am following this right. Your IP does not relate to your address. My IP is in Worcester - I have never been anywhere near Worcester - it isn't an issue

I'm not sure I understand how they can trace you location from your IP address then?

So would opening a new account in a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name & different address, using the same computer/network, get it suspended anyway?

Not necessarily if you make new user account and try to get new IP assigned.

EliseK you need to get hold of the stealth guide - you are floundering in the dark at the moment and in my opinion you are doomed to failure. You MUST do your research before going further. You are asking the most fundemental questions that are all answered in the guide

To be correctly stealth, a user would not do that.

Considering your expertise is still developing, I would suggest you realize quickly that a new account should have nothing to link it to anything old/suspended.


There are methods that work, that are not dumb. Learn them quickly.
Suggest a lot more reading AND do not make accounts that you are going to lose thro' dumb errors.:pop2:

It is actually the uniqueness of the IP address that is trackable. If two 'different' eBay members are using the same IP, well that means that they are using the same network, which menas they are now linked in some way.

Your IP address does not need to be near the address you use on eBay. It just needs to be within the UK, which it is and should be anyway.
