hi,
new here...seems to be some trouble getting the activation key in so that I will have full access to the forums...I'm sure that will be resolved....meanwhile

I am on vista...thought I had a static ip, but have been informed its dynamic....due to change again July 8. OK so after quite a bit of time and effort from my pc guy and the isp reps...my pc will not relaese the ip. It just will not....one isp rep even referred me to a huelett packard rep!!!!

So my question is....if this ip will change automatically every two weeks or so....Am I good to go? if a new ip is automatically generated then I just wait? If I understand this correctly....I think all is good as long as I wait til new ip is snagged. ??? Thanks in advance for any input

yES...i HAVE doneit all! it is supposed to reset on July 8...but pc guy says that will not always happen when it says it is scheduled to. Just want to be sure if it is utomatically changed....then all is well..

Just very frustrated as this would appear to be a somewhat easy step in the process...but very very important. I guess I just wait....I have done everything else...now I have NOT unplugged everything from the wall....overnight. Maybe that would work. ipconfig /release.....then power down for the night and renew in the morning? maybe. But I guess the point is moot if indeed I get a new ip assigned july 8 anyway

Prob a better option is to go and get a cheap broadband dongle service to supplement if you can afford it.

the sudden lack of funds has increased my adrenaline and decreased my ability to easily retain new info....lol...I am trying very hard to get every step right and be exceptionally well versed in what I am attempting to do here getting stealth accounts going....that said...dongle? Can I use my atrix smartphone for this?

ok....so NOW I go get another modem from comcast and set it up...after it installs I check the properties of the ip address....it now s set to expire in 90 minutes!...GREAT>>>>NO....does not happn...instead of the ip changing...it now saysit will expire july 10 instead of 8. I am really very frustrated. I need some assistance please if anyone can offer sugestion.

ok....finally got it. Had to use SMAC to change mac address then everythng went smoothly!
