ip adress won't change no matter what
 

i'm using netgear cable modem gateway cg814wg and have tried many things to change my ip such as the cmd ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew. i've even changed my mac adress using technitium mac adress changer and nothing.

the wan mac adress doesn't show up when logging into 192.168.0.1 so i can't change it that way.

when logging into the 192.168.0.1 i have the option of changing my ip to static or dynamic, i was wondering if changing it to static would also change my ip into something new. i'd try this but i don't know what to put into these blank boxes.

edit: forgot to mention i have broadband internet with road runner and am running windows 7.

also i've been thinking of just getting dial up to use the ip's it provides as tokens with auctivia with my broadband connection as stated in the book. i just don't know what to expect when i pay for the dial up service, like weather i can alternate between dial up and broadband easily, weather i'll need a seperate router for dial-up, etc as i had not had dial up before.

some times if your isp assign you a static ip it wont be able to change and you'll have to invest in some good vpn access. If you have a access to a web server ssh tunnelling is always a option

I have Time Warner Cable and a netgear router.

If this is your set up, you can easily change your IP by changing you MAC address.

If this isint your set up, I suggest you get it. I pay $20/ month for this internet.
