IP address...im so confused

okay i got the stealth book, but im really confused with changing the IP address

i have a charter netgear wireless cable gateway

turned off, unplug cables, over 8 hours or more...still didnt work for me.

i change IP address calling charter to reset my modem and i got my IP change at ipburger.com to verify

why am i confused?

which ip address to change? the ipburger.com which is ##.###.###.191
or my ip address where i do the ipconfig at command prompt? which is 192.168.0.1

please help...
how do i change my IP address? i know its dynamic.
i just dont know how to change it

ive watched youtube videos and read threads here but really im confused.

thanks in advance

If it has changed on ipburger, then it has changed for ebay too. Don't look at the one in the command prompt. It will always be the same. Ebay doesn't see that one. They see the one on ipburger

shadowq5 11-27-2011 07:30 PM

the only thing i know to change it is to call CHarter to reset my IP address.
How can i change it on my own?

and if i have 3 stealth accounts, do i need to change ip address every time i log in to that accounts?

thank you

ingle92protege 11-27-2011 07:39 PM

You need to change ip each time you log in each account.

It seems your internet provider gave you a static ip. I also have one and I have to change the mac address for the ip to change... Try that and see

ingle is right, sounds like a static or sticky one. Have you tried holding the reset button on this router for a minute and see if it works?

Dont panic about it, when the numbers change at IP BURGER, that means you have a new IP address and you can log into the next account. Dont forget to change it before you change account again.

thank you for all the info

but i tried resetting the modem, still i have the same ip at ipburger
i will try to change the mac address... i hope i could find it and work on it,
im not really a tech...

I have a DLINK router with Sky broadband.

At the moment the way to change my IP address is to switch off the router for few hours then restart it. IT CHANGES.

However, this is a PAIN. Is there an easier way of changing this?

Also, can i revert back to my previous IP address? so that i can have the same one per stealth account?

I fear that if i use too many different ones on one account it will flag as suspicious!!!!

Thanks for your help.

You must be able to get a dynamic IP every time you reset the router or modem button. In my country ISP it done for 5 min max after I reset router .If you can not change IP you may save stored cookies in browser for every account and use every time you loging in to accounts. but be sure that every time you loging out clear cookies .:spy:

help im so confused with ip address

hi im a little confused with the ip part of keeping stealth.

i am on broadband and i can change my ip address simply by resetting my router.
so here s where im getting confused.
if ive created a user account on my laptop eg (john smith) with 1 ip address ending in 123,
then ive logged out and turned off my router to get a different ip address ending in say 345.

then if ive created another new user id (account 2) on my laptop logged into ebay again wth the second ip address ending in 345.
then
if i log back into my ebay user john smith account does my ip change back to 123 automaticaly or is it still ending in 345.

or before i log back into it do i reset it again back to ending in 123 or any other ip address except 345.
if i do need to change it again wont ebay know that im at a different location thats not ending in 123 if it ends in 789 for example
and then get suspicious if it keep changing all the time.

please note before anybody says read the book or read the forums i have already this is why im confused.

You reset your modem to get a new ip, not your router. (even though your router might be in the same little plastic box)

It's unlikely that resetting the modem again will give the previous IP of 123. If it ends in 789, no problem. What you have to be careful of, is to not have it be 123 again when you log into the second account.

Charter Cable = Super difficult to change IPs. I have Charter so I know. Your best bet is to get a USB Internet Dongle (Mobile Internet). Look into Verizon, and T-Mobile.

I hope to Science they don't have the abomination of high speed internet known as charter across the pond.

It's not unccomon for a user to have a dynamic ip, or even be traveling.

Unless you have a static ip, your ip address will change on its own.

What if you logged in from home, work, a coffee shop, a library, etc... logging in from a unique ip each time is not a problem. Using the same ip on more than one account is a textbook method for linking accounts among most websites.
