IP change question?

My IP was 2.XXX.3X.217

i reset the router and all the numbers are the same now excepted the '1' in the 217 has change to a '2'.

Is this ok or do I need to try and get another IP?

GreenBean 11-29-2011 02:57 AM

Given you had indicated you were going to use same family name, same postcode, then no this is not going to be suitable for stealth.

It's proven if an account gets reviewed manually, this closeness of IPs may factor limitation.

Sorry, but you need to try better :peace:

BiN4RY 11-29-2011 03:05 AM

If you try again, what does it change it to this time?

Callidus 11-29-2011 04:34 AM

Greenbean, no I scrapped that and started from scratch all setup now, false name, address, my skills in artwork came along nicely. So would this IP be ok seeing as I have all different details?

GreenBean 11-29-2011 05:40 AM

yep, should be fine.

say the numbers are

x. xxx.xxxx.xx0 then
x. xxx.xxxx.xx1 is fine
x. xxx.xxxx.xxx is also fine.

(x.xxx.xxxx.) can stay the same & the last 3 can differ with few problems :)

Greenbean another bit of help needed.

I have a 'sticky IP' as we established in another post.

However, I downloaded 'Technitium' clicked on change MAC address and automatically rebooted my sky router.

It booted back up but the IP hasnt changed....?

Anyone know why..? or what im not doing to make it change

Can someone please help me out with an issue? I am pretty computer savvy, but I am dumbfounded by what is going on.

First of all I am using a d-link dir 655 router with Comcast cable. My issue is this: 50% out of the time I will try to change my IP address to that of account B's by using that account's associated MAC address. However, once I reset the modem and the router I am given account A's IP address, not a random IP. Why? Why do I keep getting other account's IP address when I change the router's MAC address?

Also, which should boot up first the router or the modem?

Please help!

HELP!

If my IP is dynamic why do i need to change the MAC address every time I switch the modem off to get to other accounts?

rsot 12-07-2011 11:51 AM

Overkill for eb/pp - Mzgr3k0....we also need a better username for you if you are going to be around for awhile =)

Don't worry about mac so much for those platforms.

oge 12-07-2011 01:05 PM

rsot aka overtime is correct usually you would change the mac address to get a new ip but if you can change your ip by resetting it or airplane then you do not need to worry

overtime ....Mzgr3k0 will go by Ms Greek as well!

Mzgr3k0 12-07-2011 05:06 PM

I'm in the process of changing providers at the moment, hopefully they will connect it by Monday ..
Just another question , lol again .
This one is abit random .
They're asking me if I want VoIP, is it any good for anything or will a normal landline do just the same?
Does anyone use VoIP ?

Yes use mobile ip's like smart phone or Verizon usb then the ip's will change for you everytime yhou connect disconnect problem solved!

rsot 12-08-2011 09:24 AM

Modem should be booted up first. I don't know how to get new IP by working with router (sadly) so a simple reset of the modem is the way for me (or those tech-unsavvy)

probably have a static ip in which case it will never change. static ips are assigned by your isp

Nope. I have Comcast. It is Dynamic. The changing of the router's MAC address works..,but only some of the time. This is my issue. I just want to know why. So the modem needs to be booted up first for this to work? Doesn't this contradict the stealth guide? I thought the modem sees that the router has a new MAC and then produces a new IP because of the router's new MAC address?

rsot 12-09-2011 10:07 AM

@fingerblast, I don't think it works like that - modem never depends on the router for MAC info. Reset the modem for new IP.

Will using the tethering ability on my phone work just the same?

oge 12-09-2011 03:24 PM

yes just get a free app that tells you your ip and use airplane mode to change your ip works on android iphone and blackberry

fingerblast 12-09-2011 03:59 PM

So every time I connect I will have a different IP?

fingerblast 12-09-2011 04:47 PM

Will the throw up a red flag to ebay? Doesn't ebay usually need our IP's to be within a 100 mile radius? What location are these mobile generated ips from?
