Some information for any SKY USER!
Please READ carefully and add questions below.
These steps below will allow you to reveal your USERNAME & PASSWORD embedded into the pre-set routers that are sent out to you when signed up to BROADBAND with SKY.
This step by step guide will reveal the username and password to take to any other router where you will be able to EDIT your MAC Address to then get new IP ADDRESSES.
PLEASE NOTE: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION - WILL ONLY WORK FOR NETGEAR DG834G / GT OR THE SAGEM ROUTER...YET TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THE D-LINK .SKY DO NOT TOLERATE THIS BEING DONE SO THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK & may cause problems with your service
1) Launch a web browser, it doesn’t matter if the router is not connected to the ADSL line, if not connected you will see a page not found error, that’s expected and normal.
2) Next, in the address bar cut’n'past or click on this link:
http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=pi...%2Fnetgear.cfg
(If prompted for a router username and and password then username -= admin password = sky)
Next you should see a white screen with just one of text something like
Usage: ping [OPTION]… host
4) Wait about 10 seconds and cut’n'paste or click this link
http://192.168.0.1/netgear.cfg
5) This will save a text file called netgear.cfg wherever your default location for saving documents is. You should then able to open netgear.cfg with a text editor such as Notepad on a PC or could use something like Textedit on a Mac. I ‘d suggest you re-save it with a different name as netgear.cfg is also used for router settings backups.
The text file should look something like :
pppoa_username: blahblahblah@skydsl
pppoa_password: 1234567aa1
pppoa_idle=0
pppoa_ipaddr=
blahblahblah@skydsl is your actual Sky broadband username whilst 1234567aa1is will be your ADSL password.
Connect up a new router and enter this into username and password and gogogoog!
