| Paddymac | 11-04-2012 12:02 PM | iPhone tethering Can I use tethering on my iPhone for a number of stealth accounts, does the ip address come from the phone or the wifi router? or should it only be used on 3G?and does switching it on/off change the ip address? |
| NoneOther | 11-04-2012 12:45 PM | It will be assigned from the 3G connection providing you turn off wifi.
If the phone is connected to wifi then the IP will be that assigned to your router by your ISP.
Please note that if an iPhone is connected to wifi and goes into standby i.e. the screen goes black then after a minute or so it will switch to 3G connection. This is a system power saving mode built in to IOS |
| Paddymac | 11-04-2012 12:53 PM | So turning my iphone off/on will give new a new ip so long as I on on 3g.
Sounds like the best way as I want about 4 stealth accounts |
| NoneOther | 11-04-2012 01:14 PM | Yes, that's correct |
| Paddymac | 11-04-2012 01:18 PM | perfect, just what I need |
| NoneOther | 11-04-2012 01:35 PM | BTW, no need to power the phone off to get a new IP, just turn on Airplane Mode for a minute then off again and when the phone re registers on the network you will get a new one |
| GreenBean | 11-04-2012 06:21 PM | Make sure too that you do not have the ebay apps downloaded with the iphone.
May cause linkage.

| Paddymac | 11-09-2012 08:35 AM | Thanks folks |
| Artann | 11-09-2012 11:22 PM | does anyone know if this going to work for AZ? |

| Jamescoofee | 11-10-2012 08:05 AM | Thank you all, I tried and it worked |

I have found that every time i use airplane mode new ip address is on. Which is perfect. Does this makes any difference if this is cable ? |
| AJ1234 | 04-19-2013 02:47 PM | GreenBean,
What if you had the eBay app at one point...would it still affect it if I want to tether with my phone for a new account?
I deleted it a long time ago and haven't log into any eBay/Paypal accounts every since. (maybe 6 months)
IP has definitely changed as well. Quote:

Tethering only affects IP address, If you had the Ebay App before and deleted it does not affect the tethering process. |

thanks | Yes, Once the app is off your device it's no longer a threat. The only actual problem I see is IF you never logged IP's when using the Ebay App you MAY at some point get a repeat IP and this is why we log ALL IP changes while stealthing. |
| purplewomble | 02-05-2014 06:05 PM | Re: iPhone tethering How do people manage to keep track of the IP addresses? Surely it could repeat itself after 3000 IP addresses- thats a lot of IP addresses to go through?? |

I wish there was a way to consistently get a certain ip that you want... remembering them and logging seems like such a pain. But it is what it is if you want to play the game. |
| jrtow | 10-13-2014 10:13 PM | Re: iPhone tethering Please let me all remind you that if you have a non-prepaid phone, that has your real information on it, ebay can find that out anytime they want. If selling on ebay was the answer to a suspended account. It would be common knowledge for free with 1 google search! |

| manoverde | 12-15-2015 10:41 PM | Re: iPhone tethering Is this still working?
Can we open 5 accounts without getting link by ebay?
Just by turning on and off the phone via 3g or 4g ? |

Just by turning on and off the phone via 3g or 4g ? | You can open as many as you want...as long as you track your IP changes and not overlap IPs between accounts. |

1- Delete all he chache and cookies of the browser im using on the phone | No need when tethering to a Computer, your only using the Internet of the phone. Quote:
2- Turn off and on every time i login to a new account
| You can achieve the same by putting the phone in Airplane Mode. Quote:
3- Never login with ebay app
| 100% correct. Quote:

| No need, just need to log all your IP changes. Welcome. |
| hughes | 01-27-2017 05:39 AM | Re: iPhone tethering A quick question pls....for a non US resident using iPhone tethering/mobile hotspot , will eBay or Paypal be able to track and tell if my network provider isn't US based? Thanks in advance. |

Re: iPhone tethering @hughes, your IP will not be US-based unless you are in the US using iPhone tethering |
| hughes | 02-03-2017 11:20 AM | Re: iPhone tethering Thanks for the response guys....what I meant was after I had already setup nd configure my browser with a dedicated US based IP address, and it shows my location as US...will eBay or Paypal somehow be able to still track my source of Internet connection or network provider. |
| duffrageous | 02-27-2017 12:34 PM | Re: iPhone tethering Don't you need to change your iPhone's UDID as well or is that only for using the app? |

| Gamble | 03-28-2017 09:08 AM | Re: iPhone tethering Can anyone speak to this.
I tether using Cricket wireless in my house which also has cable router. Does the router need to be turned off when I tether or is "forgetting" the network on the user account good enough?
Also if I've used the cricket phone before on old account by tethering should I get a cheap alternative that has tethering capabilities and are their any suggestions on what those alternatives are?
Many thanks for responses. Your time is golden to me. |
| applepbc | 03-28-2017 02:03 PM | Re: iPhone tethering turn wifi off on your device. not the actual wifi router lol
find out how large your IP pool is by logging IPs to determine if you need a different provider |
| ridermacleod | 06-07-2017 02:56 AM | Re: iPhone tethering Will using a uk contract phone as a hotspot for tablet work ok providing I clear data / turn airplane mode on and off etc? Or does it need to be a pay as you go

Thanks | Phone Tethering works if you can successfully change the IP address, in most cases the "Airplane Mode" will work. I would suggest you keep a log of IP changes to make sure you aren't repeating an IP across multiple accounts. |
