Need help with changing my ip address....

Okay so I am new here and following what the book says to do. I did everything and finally found my Wan Mac Address and it gives me two options which is to either "Release WAN lease or to Renew Wan lease" which one should I choose and will that change my ip address?

igotsuspended 11-06-2012 01:33 AM

Those two options do not work mostly.
To get new ip always, you have to change your router MAC address.
There is an option some where in your router saying like spoof or clone WAN MAC address.
Select each MAC address for each account. You will get new IP for MAC you set.
Yiu may also have to reset modem everytime you change MAC address.

Make use of aspkin's creation

IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!

Run that to get your IP B4 touching your routers etc.

Run it afterwards to make sure the mission worked.

Have you checked your IP is dynamic?

What happens when you turn off and on your modem? Check your IP I mean.

NGALO1983 11-06-2012 11:14 PM

I purchased "Hide-my-ip" today to change my ip, was that good or bad idea? Why?

My ip address doesnt not change even if I unplug it. Frustrated, so I purchased "hide-my-ip" and can change my ip with a click of a button. Now im told that, "hide-my-ip" is something not to use but why?

NGALO1983 11-06-2012 11:25 PM

No!

What is ip dynamic? All I know is my ip address wont change, doesnt matter how long I unplug it so I used "hide-my-ip" which I click a button and it gives me a new ip address all the time. The part that worries me is, are they giving me a ip address that they gave to another ebay user? Because I dont want that.

Hiding your IP is the worst idea ever. You will not last.

unkown5454 11-07-2012 12:17 AM

Big fail. All you had to do was a simple search in the forum to know this.

igotsuspended 11-07-2012 12:50 AM

It is possible your ip was assigned to others, but it is hard to know all previous owners of that ip was using ebay.
As I said, isp assigns ip based on mac address of your router.
If you want to get a new ip, you have to change mac address of your router or network card which is connected to modem.

Best choice of users getting the correct help is to post what ISP they use.

Sensible users would call their provider & ask if their IP is dynamic or static.

Broadly speaking dynamic means the IP changes. Static means it stays the same.

Not too hard.
When a user like yourself comes up with this problem there are far safer choices before getting your pick.

Until you are really up & running, stop doing things of your own accord. You will ruin your ebay accounts.

You probably have what is called a sticky IP.... it might change but takes a really long time to achieve.

Your better and workable options would be to consider other methods of access to the web.
There would be a two-fold advantage if you tried this. Less difficult to do & less chance of other ebay users ever having the same IP.

Hide-My-Ass is not suitable.

Get an internet dongle or tether your phone - it's not so pricey. Cost of doing good business.

Hide My A$$ is well known by eb and can lead to bans.

internet dongle can be sure to get different IP address every time log into Ebay. But each internet dongle have a special number. Does ebay or paypal can get this special number, which will link all ebay accounts log in through this internet dongle.

If you mean mac address and then not yet.
As I remember only amazon records mac address.
Beside ip and mac address, no one can see any other info unless they can inject a code to do the job, and but not all device can be injected.

If both methods doesn't work properly, then you can reset your modem.Whenever you reset the modem, then you will get new IP address. You can check your new IP address from the site Ip whether it is change or not.

The best option would be to get a dongle, as this changes every time you unplug and plug back in, but make sure you keep a long of each ip used, when and for what account.

This way you cannot fail.

All the best.

Is there an easy way to make a log of ip addresses if I have say 10 accounts and have to trawl all the way through the ip addresses used on each one this is going to take an age
