Mac IP Change

Hello,

I was wondering how I can change the ip on my macbook computer. Do not understand how to.

Is their a program that will work?

Thanks

First question is what ISP do you use to access the internet?

Do you know if your (current) IP is static or dynamic?

What are you running with your MAC?

Have you tried powering down your modem and restarting...using IP burger to see if you get new IP?

RSOT and GB: I have tried this, nothing happened. The ip address always stays the same. Comcast Xfinity. Version 10.6.8

I need to get a software to hide my ip address, is it possible on a mac. I try shutting off and unplugging my router for a few days nothing. I have comcast.

Can I use a service? Do you have one in mind?

Do usb dongles work? Do these get new ip address everytime?

Yes use a USB modem or smartphone. Every time you connect and disconnect new ip. On smartphone its airplane mode.

You can not HIDE your Ip address with software.. it doesn't work that way. You can use a VPN and your internet traffic will go through the VPN but a better way is just to use a wireless broadband card. Most of these cards change IP addresses each time you turn them off and back on again.

Good luck!

So if I use a card or modem USB thing. It will give new ip everytime. But what if another ebay user used that IP address that the modem gives them.

There's millions of ip's. With the iPhone there's a app to log them. On ipburger.com you can cut and pasted to log them same with Verizon access manager cut and paste.

I've been using them for years as long as they don't repeat which I've never saw myself I wouldn't worry about another user. Only time you worry about that is when you use public wifi. Don't do that!

HidemyAddress is dangerous.

Comacast has what is called a sticky IP. It takes ages to be released. So you would wait in vain. :pout:

:thumb: great choice to get a usb dongle. They do give a new IP address.
